Title: FAO ALL 3.2 2.6 OWNERS COIL PACK FIX
Post by: david_omega on 01 February 2010, 11:29:36
Hi, going to make a how to, but just an advice realy, found the oil seals had caused a problem with my plugs, rectified it with new rocker seals. a common fault most will know about,

MAJOR PROB:  WATER:

Found coil banks 2 4 and 6 are full of water, coinsidently, on all 3 non runners brought in this week, not seen this before, but have just had to order 3 new coil packs up!
Will be fabricating a fix to cover them once it is done, this will be replicated and put on sale as a basic fix costing less than £20 incl p and p for oof members.   Just check your foam under your bulkhead isnt dripping water onto your coil pack!!!!

Common-ish probably - think it was found to be either the windscreen seal or the seal where the wipers go through iirc.

Seems to affect facelifts more for some reason from memory

already a known issue, the seal around the windscreen wiper is to blame, causing water to get into the scuttle sound proofing, fill up, and then drip onto the engine.

Affects all facelifts with petrol engines.

Fix is to put a bit of sealant around the wiper motor on the scuttle  :y

noticed that the foam backed washers around the wiper spindals where not sitting snuggly against the scuttle last time i refitted it. Is it worth replacing them? i guess the foam has been squased and not recovered due to age?
