Please can you allay a concern for Diane
I have advised to get cambelt kit (Gates, SKF, or Conti) from autovaux, along with the service kit, and OEM Stat, and transfer pipe
And a service kit, again OEM parts (nothing pattern).
Di is worried that some members will be unhappy with my advice - but obviously isn't comfortable to say this openly..
Over to you.....

Whats the concern? I have had parts for all 3 of my Omega's off them, all good quality parts and good service, never had a problem :y
-
Mine's got an SKF belt kit from Autovaux on it. :y
-
Autovaux have been fine whenever I've used them :y :y :y
Oh... And I wouldn't pay the extortionate asking price of a Vx Cambelt Kit when SKF/Gates/Contitech are probably better at half the price ;) ;)
-
My car is made from autovaux parts ;D

At the cambelt party afew years back myself with a lot of help from Kevin fitted a SKF one and has been just fine :y :y. Had a few parts from them with no probs

Was ordered in the same batch as mine, so if yours breaks I know I'm in trouble. ;D

Cheaper = better when quality isn't compromised :y :y

Just someone told me to stick with parts from a Vx Dealer.
I am happy with James advice, why would I not be?
D.

for cambelts i always go to a Vx dealer on TC, but thats just me :y

Even though you can get the same part, from an identical source, for considerably less? :y

For some parts this is important, for others you are better off going elsewhere. Go with the advice on this forum and you won't go wrong. :y

As long as its an OEM part Di (which everything I have suggested is) you cannot go wrong :y

Its a pain having stuff delivered, i am never in when they are delivered, then half to drive about 20 miles to pick the bugger up, after paying for postage. Usually i need it straight away, so its just pop down the dealer, usually need other stuff to, like oil or something, so going there anyway

Actually, if you know you're not going to be in, that's a fair point :y

Well last time it went, a tensioner failed, and i needed oil and other bits as usual, so makes sense. Banbury Vx parts are usually very good too

Lets be aware here that James requested confirmation that Autovaux stuff is good (i.e. the first post made).
Here is my 5p worth.
The parts required can be safely bought from autovaux, thier water pumps, cambelt kits etc are all good quality and mostly from OEM suppliers.
Do beware though, the likes of thier camcover gaskets are not good, yes they are from an OEM supplier but, not a supplier who actualy supplied these items to GM!
On another note, I still rate buypartsby for cambelt kits (contitech) and water pumps.

I agree, I get all my cambelt kits and water pumps from Buypartsby unless someone asks for genuine and i've never had a problem yet :)

I'd agree with all that Mark
Genuine CCover gaskets all the way - but OEM suppliers for cambelt kits etc :y

Over to you.....
I fail to see the issue. James must have changed more cambelts than anyone on here , bar one or two. I would trust his advice absolutely. Why is this an issue now?
I have also had stuff from Autovaux and agree with the comments on here. They have also been helpful when I have had the odd issue (aux belt fractionally too short - replaced, and refunded me on non original camcover seals - both without question :y)
-
I am happy with gates/conti belts. Currently one on my mv6.
Trouble with autovaux, the lying toerags have a habit of claiming something is genuine, when its not. I now refuse to use them.

I don't think this ever WAS an "issue" ... :) In his opening post James wrote

Which seems to have been missed by most .... James is happy with what he does and uses .. he wanted others to reassure Diane that what he was recommending was OK ..
Fairly simple if you ask me .... but it seems many have not actualy read what was written ..... or if they did they have not understood it !!!
:)

its fully understood Nige, its Di's level of concern that is...er...concerning...? its seems we are determind to worry, even when there is nothing to worry about.
the car is fine
the parts are, or will be, fine
James is fine
James's knowledge is fine
The forum is....etc etc.
