-
K549 YTM 24 valve Senator :(
-
Not a car but a motorbike.
It was my 1st ever taste of freedom
It was a Suzuki 100ER in Red
Reg No EWO 177V
I seen it a few times after I sold it and it was a wreck.
Oh Well, memories.
-
well it a choice of two.
1st be a manta then second be a 24v gsi g666aln.
-
I had a beautiful 1966 dark green immaculate Ford Corsair V4 in 1974, my then girlfriend lived some miles away and the petrol cost was mounting up, i exchanged the car for a Mini, it solved the petrol problem but how i missed my V4...
should have exchanged the girlfriend - we divorced in 1981 :(
.
-
Choice of two
K582JWJ - Nissan 200 SX - I loved that car and I sold it because I believed the turbo was on its way out (should have just replaced it but didn't have the cash)
J745ONB - My 3rd GSI 3000 - such a great car to drive
(http://i549.photobucket.com/albums/ii371/scottie7275/CarltonNumber32.jpg)
Both sadly missed :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
Ford 105E, reg no 39 SF sold it for £30 in the early 70's, plate might be worth a bit more than that now.
-
Last night, a stunning 2.5 CDX :'( :'( :'(
Ah well, French diesel burning estate on the drive later this evening... :-[
-
I would say my old 3l black on black R reg elite. This was back in the days before i was a member on the OOF. Gearbox was sliping told that it would need a recon one at £1,500 :( :( :(.
If i knew then what i do now i would still have it :-[ :-[.
But i do love it,s replacement :y
-
Choice of two really. Either my lovely E Reg 3.3 Vauxhall PC Cresta which had bench front seat and four on the floor with OD, or my H Reg 3.3 FB Vauxhall Ventora
-
A few i wish i still had.
A nissan 200sx (slightly tuned 200 hp ish),
An early ranault 5 Gordini turbo - group N spec (french go kart, but mental to drive)
v6 vectra - needed something more economical so it had to go..
-
A couple i wish i still had, Ford Capri 2.8i RS, it had been tinkered with by Ford special products division. It was a demonstrator model before i got it, had been opened out to 3.1 and had a race cam fitted. Now sitting in someone’s collection in Stafford somewhere. The other was a Kawasaki ZZR1000 just gave a sense of freedom are well memories...... :'(
-
.......like I mentioned in the 'first vaux' thread - my V6 Cavvy.
Brought all my kids home from the Maternity wing in that and was my first Vx :'( :'(
Would have the 'meega though!
-

DG05 VPY - BMW 320d M Sport
(http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii38/GrizzlyLiam/DSCF0309.jpg)
Not the best nor most expensive car I've owned but, it was the one I loved the most, but I'll say that about the SAAB when it goes :(
-
Rover SD1 V8s GAU460V. Trans-Am GTA J180TBW.
I sold the Rover to some Asians that would have hammered it into the ground & looking back now i should have kept her, but i was young & foolish :(
The Trans-Am
(http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn231/Waspy_01/GTA1.jpg)
Sold her back to Jon, whom i bought her off (for the same price). I LOVED the noise & the speed 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-):) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
We all make mistakes said the Dalek jumping off the dutsbin.

My 1969 TR6 Reg Nº FJK 811G
(http://www.dbug.co.uk/GRAPHICS/tr6a.jpg) (http://www.dbug.co.uk/GRAPHICS/tr61a.jpg)
Regretfully sold in mid 70s to make way for a more family orientated motor - 1973 3 lit V6 Mk1 Granada GXL
-
When I was younger I had a succession of Mini Cooper S's. The one I wish I had now was a 970 S. It would be worth a fortune now assuming it hadn't rusted away!

Remember buying back in the 70s a knackered mini unseen (really rotton - holes round the rear window) for the 4 new tyres to fit on the wifes mini for MOT. Paid a tenner!! Turned out to be a debadged 970S. Sold the motor and box for £200, the disk brake set up and numerous other parts - think I cleared £300. Some bargain.
-
I suppose thinking back it would have to be,
1. Sunbeam Tiger
2. Pontiac trans Am Turbo
3. Ford Granada 3ltr Ghia Coupe (Two door)
-
My second car, a 1971 BMW 2002 Tii - of late, a Volvo XC70 T5 simply because I didn't like the 5 speed manual 'box, that was a mistake :(
-
1. Chevette HS
2. Senator 3.0 24v - wasnt actually sold, went on the back of a lorry to the scrappy, with terminal tinworm.
-
5971FG.
Mk One Cortina Woody Estate.
Sold it in, circa, 1985 as I was as skint as a skint thing in skintland at the time. :-[
MOT's it every year (had it for 5 or so years) and only added mileage from home to test station and return year on year. Local car from new, all books and manuals, supplying dealer transfer on dash still, no rust or rot, a really fine example.
Ersehole that bought it promptly put the number onto a Beemer of some sort and scrapped the car.....
Ringpiece philistine..... >:(
-
Ford Capri 2.8 injection 1982 Y Reg. Sold in 1997 due to having a company vehicle at the time and it was hardly used. 3 and a half years of virtually trouble-free motoring, sold it for only £50 less than I paid though. :(
-

-
The car I most regret getting shut of is.....the one I put in part ex for this Omega ;)
-
Some of you have brought back some memories. The 970s is a rare beast indeed & Cooper 10 inch discs/calipers are as rare as hens teeth. I could list several but two will do.
1968 Mini Cooper 998 (so not an S) red with a black roof. Not much different to standard 998 to look at but those in the know saw the chrome gear lever, 100mph speedo, deeper dish steel wheels & i think a slightly different grille. I was 18 & my ins co. knew what it was when i tried to insure it as a mini 1000! Reg was OOF 786G!!!!
The biggie for me was a 1972 Mk3 Cortina 1600GT, 2 door in Daytona yellow with black vinyl roof. The GT's of the day had 1600 pintos which i never liked. This one had a retro fitted 1600Gt x-flow as fitted to the Mk2 1600E, Mk1 Escort Mexico etc. In 1600 form the pinto felt a bit dull, the x-flow always felt punchier & more willing. I think the reg was SPO ***K.
I know the mini died in a police chase after i got rid & was inside. Doubt the Cortina is around any more. :'( 8-)
-
Mine was a 1969 Lotus Elan +2 god did handle well.
Then my previous ex police omega it was quick until
the gearbox let go. The new elite just has to many
small buttons on the dashboard..
-
Had an immaculate 1992 Ford Grandad in dark metallic green.Almost showroom condition and I think I must have had a bump on the head cos I traded it in for a Mk5 Escort XR3i-which was a turd! But looking back to my early yoof, I was GIVEN a Tickford Ford Capri 2.8i MOT failure. Myself and a mate stripped it for bits......OMG I've done some stupid things :-[ :( :oI'm not saying it would get me on Dragons Den but it would be worth investing in nowadays....and I trashed it in my naivety ::)

Vauxhall Calibra 2.0 Turbo DTM in white....

It really should be this. Stupidly fast, great looking (I thought) and a real throwback to my pre family days
(http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss251/healeywayne/109_0926.jpg)
But to be honest, its this:
A lowly Carlton 1.8GL. I was about 18/19 and I loved it. Washed it every other day. Really cared for it. Sold it to a taxi driver who had it for 2 years and took it up to 330,000 miles.
-

That may be a good sign, it may be having a full restoration at the moment. Surely noone would scrap a Mk1 Granny, although they did like them on the banger racing scene :(
Might be worth an email to the Mk1 Owners club (Surely there is one)
-
I don't really ever get attached to cars to be honest. I (generally) enjoy them, but don't get upset when they go. I remember one of my brother's in floods of tears when his MK1 Escort (his pride and joy) had to go when he got married. I assume the tears were over the car, rather than the upcoming ceremony ;D
That said, Rover 216GSi G882 TAV (aka Tavvy), when I had no use for it, I gave it to my brother, as I wouldn't sell it to anyone else. He scrapped it some 5yrs later, having been his workhorse when he rebuilt his house. I'm happy it had a long and useful life. And stupidly reliable and robust - my brother did NOTHING beyond a bit of welding for MOT and some tyres. Not even oil. It died an honourable death when the cost to get it through an MOT was not worth it - and he'd finished the house, so didn't need an old banger any more for carrying building supplies and rubble...
And also Omega Elite 2.5TD (aka TRACTOR!). Whilst I wouldn't go so far as to say I got emotional when it drove off, I will admit I had a sad feeling in my heart. Oddly, I was discussing this with Kevin Wood and Chrisgixer over the weekend, and the sadness as I watched it drive around the corner. I am pleased its gone to a good owner on the forum, Squealy, who sounds like he will be exploring the engine as I did...
-
I will also be sad to see the back of the MV6 (Silver Bullet) if its current problem is deemed to be that serious.
-
1958 Duple 56 seater road coach. Dream drive that this 'large car' gave me; high up and in charge of the road!! :D :D
Lost part ownership with loss of marriage. Very sad (losing the coach, not the marriage!!) ;) ;)
-
although i was delighted to pick up my 3.2 elite, i was sad to leave my 2.5cdx behind as part of the trade in. It deserved better than a used car lot in Leeds.
Still think of it now tbh, must be going soft.
-
TYC 250G, our 1968 AEC Reliance single-decker bus.
Took me nearly six years to restore, and took us to vintage events far and wide, without missing a beat.
'Twas used for our wedding too!
Still going strong in Suffolk, though now in a gaudy livery.
-
I wish i'd never sold my 3.9 TR7 V8 :(

Don't think I've ever regretted selling a car. By the time I get rid of a car they are in such a state I'm glad to see them go. ;D

Back in the mid 80's near Newhaven a 2dr Supermirafiori all in primer with big bubble arches ala Mk1 Escort. It was pretty cool & quick ofr the time but the best thing was the REAR sunstrip which said "BYE BYE XRi" 8-)

All the Supers were twin cam jobbies, I couldn't afford the insurance unfortunately :-[
-
Regret selling a C Plate SD1 V8 EFi VP
Then went through a spate of company cars.
Probably miss the first Omega Elite 3.2 in which I did a great impression of 'dancing on ice' a couple of years ago and sadly got written off... spent a fortune getting the replacement one to anything like the same level and condition.....

Not sure if i regret selling it, Ford Escort RS 1600i A143 GAO, i bought it from the first owner, who had it for 10 years, and only had 980 miles on it, he'd stored it in a heated, carpeted garage, changed the oil every 6 months, always had it mot'd, waxoyled, it looked and smelled like a brand new car. I bought it with the intention of using it as a weekend car, but it was too good to use, so it carried on life in my garage, occasionally coming out on nice dry sunny days, i sold after three years with 1,100 miles, i believe the current owner is the RS 1600i registrar at the club, i bumped into him once at a meeting, tried to drum up a conversation about the car, and he was very evasive, bit of a cock actually, anyway, at least it went to a good home, wonder how many miles are on it now.
-
Been a few, one i was most upset about was my series 1 RS Turbo, i loved that car, took it to every ford show i could. Had to sell it when i got made redundant, few months later i had another job, i couldve cried.
The other was my late dads Ford Capri, a couple of weeks ago. The lad who bought it has promised to keep in touch and let me know how shes going though, makes it slightly easier.
