Title: Tunnie's LPG Fitting - Front End Pics(56k WARNING)
Post by: Lazydocker on 27 March 2010, 21:18:52
Some pictures of the front end installation...

Air intake and Throttle Bodies Removed (Interesting use for Tunnie's hat! ;D)

HBV "Helter Skelter" pipe cut and connectors fitted
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4022/4467166437_ece2bb4251.jpg)

Inlet Manifold Removed and Cable tray scrapped for ease of re-fitting in limited space
(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2758/4467165227_bb5dcf353f.jpg)

Existing loom tidied up
(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2684/4467167731_5c5a686df5.jpg)

Sorting the loom, it looks worse than it is!

Getting there... The loom is all pointing in the correct directions!

The liquid feed pointed the wrong way so a 90 degree elbow was required (thanks to Teilo for speedy delivery)... This needs thread lock too
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/4467950542_05df8296cb.jpg)

Vaporiser in place (temporarily) to check all connections before permanent fixing
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/4467173403_a0a78bb132.jpg)

The extra wiring will fit in the 4 pot cable tray :y
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4043/4467176163_5ec4c60947.jpg)

Digging out the required wires in one of the ECU plug
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4026/4467180243_8a7413beca.jpg)

There it is! ;D
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4467955992_d9e4ac951b.jpg)

And soldered, ready for heat shrinking (Don't look Kevin, not my best joint :-[)(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2602/4467184109_1bcd808447.jpg)

The 2 required from the other ECU plug
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4025/4467958730_65356d7c94.jpg)

Apart from the extra wires (through the grommet) you wouldn't know I'd been in there :y
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/4467186643_1e16185acd.jpg)

The wires for the switch in the cabin ready for connecting up
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/4467187947_d7a9802a43.jpg)

All soldered up and heat shrink sorted. This was then taped into a loom and pulled back through
(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2686/4467962584_9d1d3b1fc3.jpg)

The fitted switch, showing full tank and running on LPG :y

The finished engine bay... Larger picture for better viewing :y

Hopefully there'll be a How 2 written up soon :y :y

Tunnie and Paul, please accept my apologies for not being able to make it. I was rather dissapointed I couldn't make it.
This has been an interesting thread, I now nothing of LPG at all, well only the very basics of what it is in basic form...so it has been an interesting read.

No worries Josh... Was a shame as I was looking forward to meeting you, but selling cars is far more important ;) :y

I may be down your way next weekend for a meeting if you're around? Might be able to meet up :-/

Awesome job...  Looks tidier in the engine than mine ever has, even before I started "playing" about, pretending to be a mechanic..

I really do stand in Awe...

Think Tunnie found my attention to detail a little "Anally Retentive" at times... Especially when he was trying to bodge something ;D ;D

Just did as I would expect to be done :y

Felt like the living dead today... Couldn't sleep when I got to bed last night (dunno why though... I was knackered!) and clocks went forwards too... Reckon I only had about 3 hours kip :( :(

Also feeling very stiff in all the wrong places :o ::)
