If you cancel your holiday the terrorists win. You're more likely to be killed on the way to the airport.
My wife and I are going to Egypt in October, and, to make it worse, we fly out on Friday the 13th, for 13 nights.
If you look on here:-
http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1007029390590®ion=AfricaandMidEast
you'll find that Egypt has the same level of terror alert as Turkey. The wife's worried silly, but I'll be damned if I'll let it put me off.
In fact, if you check out the www.fco.gov.uk warnings, you'll find that there is hardly a country in the world that doesn't have a terror threat.
You just go and enjoy yourself.

It's not a pleasent way to start your hols indeed. But you must go.
Be prepared for chaos at the airport too. Check with the airline the day before for the latest rules regarding what you can carry on.
Enjoy it. It's still far safer than driving on an A road!

This is a new reality we have to live with... there are bombs everywhere, London, Madrid and Marmaris, but it is not about the actual odds (which are very small anyway), it's about the fact that you are going on holiday and you should have a good time.
-
What I would suggest is go and have a good time but make sure you take the necessary precautions to help you have a happy and trouble free holiday.
Hope it all works out for you and that you have a good time.
Be safe :)

Thanks all
Barring the most serious aggrevation going on, we (party of 12) will be going.
Have been to the area before, so should be a good holiday, as long as the militants don't play up
