Title: AC refill and leak test - Manchester / Runcorn
Post by: zirax on 20 May 2010, 13:24:44
Does anyone recommend a place to top up my aircon? It has a leak (somewhere) and I'm looking for somewhere that will top it up and have a look. Granted I know about quick fit but I don't think they will do leak tests.

Not too far at all actually. Chester is only 25mins from Runcorn :) I'm much happier travelling for a known good place than taking pot luck at a random garage.

do you want me to send you the details, or want to wait till I report back?

Ive used them in the past on my last car, and know a few others who have used too.

They pressure test with nitrogen, before vaccing out to full test and hopefully reveal any leaks.

I know I have a small problem somewhere, as I lose too much gas after 6 months to cool the car.

I know these arent the cheapest, but £50 at kwikfit to last a few months, or a bit more here, with a guarantee

I used Polar Air at Sedgley Park and they come to you. I had a regas which escaped, compressor changed and the gas still escaped. A pressure switch was changed last summer and so far ..............  :-X  :y  :y

If you wouldn't mind reporting back that would be cracking. I know there is a leak on mine so the Nitrogen test sounds ideal.
