I have tried repairing these on my previous Omega and on my Merc by buying the little touch up bottles from the relevant dealer and touching up the small chips and scratches, but on each occasion the paint (dark green on both cars) comes out much too dark - almost Black.
Anyone have any tips/secrets as to how to do a better job on this. :-/

Just guessing but what about if you dilute very slightly? Also did you use the clear lacquer afterwards?

Never had much success with those touch up bottles either, I usually wet & dry the whole area where the chips are around the front bumper or mask off wherever, go over all the chips with a very thin layer of Isopon, dry till hard, wet & dry again, spray undercoat, wet & dry, a few thin coats of warmed gloss paint (not in cold weather as the laquer reacts), a coat of warmed laquer and looks like new! :)

I have seen some professional applications with touch up paint.. generally they lower-lighten the color tone to match as the paint even if same code will be darker.. after it dries they sand it.. then apply laquer.. but still visible.. :-/
I'm afraid best practice is to re-paint..
