I sold a set of rings on ebay, gen GM, as I never used them on my astra.
Chap sent me a message, saying both compression rings are there for each piston - but there are no oil rings. He states there is only the "spring" for the oil ring.
Well.... I thought, there were two compression rings, and a "scraper" ring?
Here is a picture... please advise!
Is he trying it on, or is this genuine? If they are genuinely missing, I will refund him without question.
Over to you:

your pic from left to right looks like compression rings then the scrapper/spacer spring.you sometimes (generally speaking) have two thin rings above and below the spring.
see what others say...

that's what I've experienced in the past :-/

Well if they are wrong, they can go back to the dealer!!!!!!
Too much time has elapsed to just take them back as unwanted - but if incorrectly supplied, that would be different...

not wrong, couple of bits missing.

My understanding of car pistion rings is that the oil scraper ring generally comprises of 3 parts. Upper, flat ring, spring tensioer type ring, and lower flat ring.
If the two seperate rings are not compression rings then, its an incomplete 'set' as it were....
I would offer to readjust price accordingly, rather than offer full refund, post back, etc etc....

Thanks, Broocie and chaps... :)
I think, given the chaps limited English... I will not get into debate, and give him a refund with good grace :D :y

a full set of piston rings consists of the following FOR EACH PISTON
top compression ring
2nd compression ring
oil control ring, comprising top ring, bottom ring and expander.
so for a four cylinder car, a complete set has 20 individual components.
