Title: my new omega elite (pics and problems)
Post by: elite col on 30 May 2010, 18:34:52
you guys were correct with rear suspension, looks like its got standard new shocks and springs, check how high the rear is?

im not fussed on having the self leveling as i wont be towing anything, would lowering springs for the rear sort this?

im really happy with car, been after a manual 2000 model for a while

88k fsh,no rust,

bad points i need help with

suspension rear as mentioned,i checked the fuse for it,it was blown put a new 1 in and ten seconds later it popped again

rear blind dont work
front heated seats dont work(rears do)
drivers door centre pin missing, been replaced with a bolt and makes a horrible noise opening and shutting

pas pipe looks shot, fluid over it

glovebox handle missing/snapped

i dont think the car feels as quick as my old carlton gsi 24v manual

Jeeeeeeez !   Sorry dude..that suspension is just wrong...badly so !   Hopefully advice will be along soon. The front looks rather low for the "normal" Elite.

Mine is the same year as yours. I wonder, like mine whether yours has been fitted with the MV6 suspension setup but until the arse end is sorted, you're not gonna know. It MAY be possible that if yours HAS got the MV6 suspension and the rear shocks were changed, that the garage assumed yours was a "normal" Elite and fitted the wrong ones without checking properly.

Equally !  I wonder if your self levelling has gone bonkers and jacked up the rear end in error.

Best of luck..

The more I look at the front end, the more I'm convinced you have MV6 suspension. If so, ground to centre of the wheel arch, above the tyre, should be about 640mm.

The rear rises when you're pointing down hill it would appear but the pictures you took seem to suggest you're virtually level.

Lol, they are estate rear springs!

The shocks are fitted wrongly to as the bush you can see should be in the trailing arm

the mechanic said the estate springs were about 4 in longer and a nightmare to get out,car must of been properly stripped to fit these estate springs

just glad its sitting proper now
