Title: Car Insurance - £600 Difference!!!
Post by: Steve 1564 on 13 June 2010, 08:25:14
Hi

Just had the renewal quote for our volvo V40 (Er's)
Its £760 !
Last year it was £252 and she has 5 yrs NCD...

Went online & Swinton want £156 (basicly the same deal but no breakdown cover)... so i phoned Aviva and asked if they got it wrong... No they said its a volvo so therefore its expensive... told them the swinton price and they said "we dont do price matching"... i said you dont do my insurance either !
Put her with swinton & upped my RAC cover...
Wierd --- The mig is with them - its £300 for me (50k/ year Business) what are they ging to put it up to next year !!

I think they randonlypick numbers out for renewal and hope you dont notice, for example I am with Admiral. A month in advance they send the renewal price out, if you dont challenge it the Direct Debit carries on from the year before and if you do challenge it you get a big discount.

i expected a bit of a rise when i bought the Omega after a 2.0 cavalier, but not by a whopping £600 :o
I rang the insurance company who ive been with for a few years (i have 7 years NCD as well) they bascially told me that it cost more because
A) its real wheel drive and a bigger engine
B) Everyones insurance has gone up because of the huge claims they had when the snow came.
told them they can keep their quote and went looking for something cheaper , which i found (with extra's i didnt even have on my old insurance included)
Its still very expensive but not as much as it was :y

Well I can beat all them with Direct Line.

My old policy was £640 including premium for paying installments and renewal was £1600.00  :o

I thought it was a typo but it wasnt she said premiums have just gone up in general. I shoped around with my 9 yrs no claim and have ended up paying 800 all in but its still half price of Direct Rip Off Line!!!  >:(
