Title: Just had my car fully detailed.....
Post by: kingycos2 on 28 June 2010, 19:18:43
Im mad about the condition of my car, but I thought I had it bad till i met Iain at finer details in rochdale. He came recommend on detailing world. I rang him and went to see what he had to offer. I went to his work short and he talked me through every panel on my car and what he thought would be best for it. So i parted with £250 for a full body detailing. The results are amazing, I thought my bodywork was immaculate, but in comparasson to how it looks now it must have been in a poor state before hand.
He took photos of the whole process and I will put them up tomorrow on her. But if your thinking about a good car detailing, this guy is very talented  :y

Why is washing and polishing a car called "detailing" ??? No matter what fancy kit you use .. thats what it gets !! A wash and a polish !!

:)

(and yes .. I have "clayed" and waxed mine !! )  :)

Just an Americansism I guess.

But professional 'detailing' consists of far more than just a bucket of water and a coat of Auto Glym Super Resin..... at least for £250 I bloody hope it does anyway  ;D

The car detailing world is bonkers. So many shampoo's, wax's, polishes, clays etc and all the stuff in between. Not forgetting all the cloths, pads, micro fibre this and that's :D

I wash and polish mine, and I may go as far as claying it a little later in the year, but I don't think I could justify £250 on an everyday run around motor.

Will be good to see the results though.

I think it depends on the type of brush you use. ;)

i.e. one of those big hanging-up ones at the local garage with an electric motor driving them, or a toothbrush. ;)

Aside from the fact it's a lot of money, can someone please explain to me exactly what "detailing" really is??

Sounds to me the art of reducing scratches and polishing it up so the big ones don't show so much??

And if you can get £250 for doing it PER CAR, can I learn it?

(thinks......£250 per day, per car.............Mmmm!)

As a matter of interest K how long did it take to do?

I did say on the other thread that based on the work done I thought that the fee was quite reasonable - I'm still of this opinion :y

If seeking this level of finish is your poison then it must make the fee worthwhile :y
