yikes. No Kevlar on the floor pan. hmm , does that mean it won't survive running over a landmine?

IED's/mines are best avoided V ;D ;D :y Most B6 saloon vehicles are realistically deployed where the ballistic threat is more to the fore - although if memory serves right the floor is also plated.
Pete wasn't far off in his remark about speed, that 2.2DTi wouldn't be the fastest off the blocks - although if you were brave enough the 3.2 armoured version (more commonly used in CPU's) had a fair enough turn of speed.
I learned about the limitations of armoured saloon vehicles the hard way back in the 70's when a landcrab I was driving decided not to stop on the way down to a roundabout at the end of a dual-carriage way near Leeds/Bradford Airport. I still to this day remember that sinking feeling in my stomach and the delightful aroma of cooked brakes.

It has a Northern Ireland plate so would have been used by the PSNI
-
I wonder what springs and shocks its got,it must weigh 2.5 tons at least
-
think they run kevlar as its lighter than the inch thick metal they wallop on,its still a lot of moola though 25g's.
infact if it was £2500 i would still think wow :o
i had a senator that had been armed response and tbh it was a flying machine,i loved the safe for the shooter in the centre console they left in and the one in the boot for the big lad shooters :D
-
I used to do work for a trader who sold ex-police vehicles and it was surprising how many came off the various forces with the gun safes still fitted, had a couple of mk 2 granadas that still had blue lights behind the grille (unmarked cars)
-
im sure that has been for sale as long as this forum has existed!

There was a continuous development cycle Chris, most Omega's were 3.2's but it wouldn't have been unusual to test a different power plant to explore how it compared in fuel consumption, reliability and so on. These were expensive cars to maintain on a fleet basis.
It would have been slow. The Mk4 Ford Cortina issued to uniformed patrols had a 2 litre petrol engine and struggled to make any sort of speed – but then speed was of secondary importance to ballistic protection for the crews.
-
Thats just crazy, surely its not 134bhp after the armoured stuff has been put on?
On a more cost effective note, why not do an A-Team "makeover" get as much scrap metal and nail it onto the body, obviously not forgetting the letter box holes in the front and sides!! lol.
Seriously, what sivvy is gunna want or have the need to purchase one at 25k????
-
Not even a decnt model to start with , just the basic headlights.

Horsepower is crank-speed related, so the extra weight wouldnt have any effect on it.
I think i might have to buy it though, purely because its so dangerous out hear in the wilds of norfolk :D
