Title: My Estate has gone ......
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 17 July 2010, 20:28:17
I've just sold my V6 CD estate. Its gone to a mate who will hopefully look after it and join OOF as well. 363 days of ownership.

I bought the car as a project last year after being made redundant. It's had the following done to it in the 5k I owned it:

Wishbones
Front discs & pads
Rear pads
Oil change x 3
Air, fuel, pollen filters
Sump pan off clean out
Cruise control added
Battery
Wiper blades all round
New wiper motor assembly
Cambelt kit/waterpump/coolant
Camcovers & gaskets
New sparkplugs
New exhaust
Steering idler
New brake pipes/fluid change
Xenon headlights & washers
Elite carpets & door cards fitted
Full leather interior (with heated rears)
Brand new tyres (Michelins!)
Gearbox ECU update
Replacement ECU/Immobiliers/Lock set etc - just to get that 2nd key!
New shocks/springs & WIM setup
Replacement dash PCB
Full bose setup
Carin satnav
Parrot bluetooth kit

Yes I sold it for more than I originally paid for it - I just hate to think how much extra ££ has gone into it in the last year.

I must be bonkers  :-[

I'm just the same Rob, my old 3.oltr elite which I had for about 10 mths and in that time spent about 2k on it and then sold it for the same price that I had paid for it, just so I could get the disco so I could pull the horse box for the youngest (have used it twice for that in the past 12mths). Now I have the ex-plod and have spent about the same on that since I got it, wonder how long it will be :-/

I paid in the region of £1850 for my CDX. I sold it to JamesV6CDX for £1250 12 months later, along with repair/maintenance bills for £1100.

It's called omega ownership, and we love it. ;D

As you can see, I now have a '99 3.0 Elite. Its been neglected and I'm investing time & ££££ putting her right also.

Had her 3 monhs now and driven a grand total of 8 miles in it!

Here we go again!

Don't count on it Vamps! I'm rapidly getting closer to that figure :( I have never had a car like this one, fix something & two new problems crop up, fix those & 3 newer ones rear their ugly head! :o I really love this old girl, indeed i've never been so attached to a car before, but the 2.2 appears to be a very problematic motor car to say the least!!! :-? :-/ :-X

Well I can honestly say hand on heart, that mine is a joy to drive, and as comfortable a car as you could ever want, it is also giving me a Degree in Automotive Engineering, and high blood pressure  :D, so when it finally leaves my ownership it will not be replaced by another  :(

I'm at the other end of the expense spectrum(at the moment) My car cost £350 and I have spent about £80 so to keep it running(excluding insurance tax and mot)
Now that I have said that it will all end up in a ball of flames knowing my luck. :-X

So what else would you get? I have driven over 80 Miles looking at cars today, 3 Omegas, only 1 decent, lpg one absolute garbage and they want £2495 :o :o

I do not want a Merc or BMW looked at a range of dealers today including some place in Darlington doing a 96 hour special deal on all cars ::) I want an Auto, I seem to have increased my budget by 100% and am still unsure of what I want. Looks like if I cant find a Mig then Vectra or Mitsubishi Colt, auto diesel, see what tomorrow brings....... ::) ::) ::)

Dunno who it is, but somebody's signature line says: "all Omegas are a work-in-progress"

Just about sums it up perfectly,( for me any rate.) but you just gotta love it.
