Title: my few interior faults in a 3.0 Elite
Post by: hughb on 15 July 2010, 00:29:07
I've not long had my 3.0 Elite pre face lift. It's 99% good but a few little faults!
1. The driver's door doesn't always lock- you have to do the central locking 5 or 6 times to make the lock drop.
2. The leather heated driver's seat doesn't work- all the others do!
3. I have a Bose radio incorporating a phone- it works and then when you switch the engine off it wont accept the sim and wont work and it can take up to 20 starts before it starts to work again! Is this common? Is there an easy cure??

Thanks for your help

1.  Could be a number of things.  Warped Door Card, dodgy connection, dodgy motor etc.

2.  Drivers seat is common for heater pads to pack up. (Drivers seat gets used more than any other).  Replacing the heater pads are nigh on impossible and would require the expertise of Chip Foose and his team of over paid (but talented) experts.

3.  Contacts on the SIM reader are dirty.  Get an old SIM card which you dont use and apply some isopropyl alcohol to the chip area.  Insert and remove several times.  Do this a few times and try again.  Whilst the isopropyl alcohol should fully evaporate, it's best not to use too much at a time.  Apply it to the SIM with a cotton bud, or similar.

Hi, I've got a 2000 f/l 3.0 elite saloon. I'm no expert but sounds like your lock could have a dodgy solenoid or just need lubricating. As for your seat, mine's the same. From what i hear the heater elements are stitched into the padding, which makes it more hassle than it's worth (and the money). I hear it's particularly difficult in leather. You could try and source a spare. There seems to be a few people breaking on here. Have you checked to see if it's connected? Not sure about the phone thing.

Thanks everyone it seems to be the selonoid on the central locking- I've taken the door card off oiled everything inc connections on the selonoid and it's no better!  :-/

Well thanks but the selonoid is female  :o and has now started working perfectly!!!! Seems the wd40 has soaked in and is now working!!

David do you have a passenger side selonoid that would fit a facelift 2.2?? My mate's has gone now!  :D

if the wd40 has worked I would then oil the linkages with a drop of engine oil,wd is good for freeing things off but less good at keeping them that way
