Let me erm... rewrite the story here so everyone understands my progress...
Got the Catera 8-27-09, was towed here because it blew the oil cooler....typical. Shortly thereafter I started taking it apart. Well, since I had no $$ at the time, I stopped on it and decided to wait until I had the time and money to finish it......
.... Which was just a few weeks ago. I scrapped a Ford Crown Victoria wagon that I had for $300, and then sold a bunch of parts off of it to fix the Catera.
Here it was when I started (which is actually how it looked a few weeks ago as well) -

And here it is as of today....

Hopefully if everything goes right, I'll have the timing belt kit and water pump ordered in a week or so, and be done hopefully mid September.

Ah, that's a familiar sight - best of luck with it :)
-
Why did you take the cam belt cover off to do the oil cooler?
-
Water pump?
...and how did you get so many plug lead pullers?
-
...and what's that round aluminium thing under the fuel lines? Emissions related?

Cam covers from a vectrarse or similar?
-
Yeah, took the cover off to do timing belt and water pump... the belt is so cracked I wouldn't even consider starting the car with it on there.
And yeah, I put '00 Saab 9-5 Valve covers on it. The original plastics were so warped that I could slide a quarter under the edge when laying them on the side.

Thats interesting, apart from the badge on the plenum cover you would not of clicked on it was LHD I expeacted the battery and airbox to have swapped sides, for what reason I dont knt why, may the V8 one that never went into production was the other way round. So how easy would it be to covert a Catera to RHD or an Omega to RHD

Brake servo tends to give it away too.

Meant to put that was the tell tale after the plenum label.
All thougth is a good tell tale, rememer the days of the hot hatch, that was the reason for the poor brakes on them, the servo on the wrong side, I think that was the case on my GTE astra

...wiper motor, scuttle pollen filter hatch give the game away as well. ;)
Yes alloy cam covers, wondered if it could be that but the radius on top looked too raised and didn't appear to line up with the edge of the head :-/
So no egr (exhaust gas recirculation valve) for you guys?
Anyway, coming on nicely, keep us informed we cove all this stuff :y

Yeah, no EGR here for some reason... we usually have those on everything.
And as for switching from LHD to RHD and vice versa, it would be virtually impossible, mainly because the firewall looks totally different.
