Title: Project 2.5 TD
Post by: Elite Pete on 27 August 2010, 14:37:49
I had another 2.5 diesel dropped off the other day, same colour as mine but with an auto gearbox and in CDX trim. Its supposedly has a headgasket failure but its been running on the drive for the best part of 40 minutes and hasn't overheated yet. The viscous fan is missing and one of the aircon fans had seized solid but it still hasn't gone over 90 deg so i've spent the 40 mins freeing off the fan which is now spining easier but not as fast as the other one.

There's a few other problems I can see need fixing. The HBV is knackered so i'll get a new one of those, the CCR 2006 cd played keeps asking for the code so that needs sorting but the good bits are its had an AR35 gearbox fitted, its chipped, its only done 117,000 miles and its had a new rad, water pump and thermostat so fingers crossed this might be an easy one. Now im off to find a viscous fan  ;)

I thought the viscous could be happily left off?

They can but I prefer it as it left the factory. I removed the viscous from my manual but found myself constantly watch the temp gauge in traffic. I've kept the electric aircon fans from the Elite I broke and intend to fit one of those in its place but until then, its staying put ;)

Some times on these engines the h/g failure is where at revs it pushs the water out of the header tank . when the failure is like this the engines run forever, only you carnt rev to hard, at all.
