Title: Corsa B 1.2
Post by: joshwyatt on 31 August 2010, 15:45:03
I have a friend with a 2000 'X' Corsa 1.2, she's going to be bringing it to me later on.
It has an issue, when at speed the EML will illuminate and an apparent loss of power. She hasn't described it very well, so I'll have to see for myself.
But apparently someone has disgnosed it as a faulty ECU, and she's trying to find a replacement one.
I've never had a Corsa, so know little about their problems, but a failed ECU isn't the first thing I'd think of.
I don't know much about the engine, which variant it is...I guess it'd be the X12XE. VIN is; WOLOSBF08Y4408
Would the paperclip test work on it?
I've never had an older VX, all my Omega's have been DBW and have used the pedal trick to find codes, so I guess paperclipping would be similair across most VX's?
Any ideas much appreciated  :y

At that age paperclip or pedal test may work.

It is DBW

You should be able to paper clip them as normal.

Had a look at the vehicle this evening, turns out it's not a 1.2...looked and saw 3 cylinders  :D
It's a 1.0 (973cc) non dbw. It's still an 'X' plate though. Does anyone know the engine code by any chance?

Thanks Lee  :y
In my defence, she did seem to think it was a 1.2. She was rather suprised when I told her it could only be a 1.0 as it only had 3 cylinders.
Now got to try and work out what's wrong with it! I really do hate cars that aren't Omega's  :D
My friends think that because I sell cars, I automatically must know what's wrong with their car  ::)

Josh....

little one-litre lawnmower engine known for ign pack probs and sensor probs too, check earth on ign pack return, should go to bolt on lhs of engine (o/s). if not, earthing it will confirm its buggered the problem.

Josh, how far from you does she live, I would be happy to pop up with the diag kit and look at codes / live data to see if we can identify the problem....

Only real thing they are known for is MAF faults and the occasional cranks senosr, pretty bullet proof otherwise.
