Title: Advice on Mondeo 2.5 V6 please
Post by: pscocoa on 04 September 2010, 12:25:45
I am round at my daughter's - again!!

There is an abnormal build up of pressure in cooling system forcing temp gauge up and electric fans on. Assume this is water pump failure - any views? Water returns to normal mark on switch off - so no visible leaks anywhere - circulation issue methinks.

If you want my honest opinion, It is a Mondeo. I have had 3.

Could be water pump. The Ford V6 is not the best engine ever.

Water pump impeller is made of plastic and prone to breaking up, also check it's little drive belt is intact

Thanks - had to make quick decision so it has been lifted to friendly garage for now by recovery as they would not come out twice to same job - can get water pump with metal impellers for £38 but may of course be thermostat but no time to mess today and he has no manuals. Mondeo users forum is down at the moment to try and get how to's.
