As expected, the Elite failed its MOT this morning.
According to the VT30 (failure sheet), what item(s) did the Elite fail on? I am not including any items on the VT32/missed/verbally told about...
-
Oh, and it may affect your postcount if you dare mention air freshener!!!
Repeat, it did NOT fail on air freshener.
-
I don't like air fresheners they make me sneeze.
Can I have a toffee please Mr TB sir?
-
I'm intrigued...don't forget it's all covered by the lifetime warranty with unlimited claims :D
Is there anything I can do to help? Whether that just be pass tools under the car etc? I also found one of those blue cups with white speckle bits in the boot of my car which is one of yours...sorry. So I don't mind dropping it over, and if simple jobs, or climbing under the car's needed I don't mind.
-
It was so dirty that the MOT tester thought he may catch something? ::)
-
Voted... And please note that for once I was being sensible and didn't go for the Air Freshener ::) ::) ;D ;D
-
I think there is a box missing which should say:
[ ] because it is a an Omega.
-
I've voted,if it didn't fail on air freshner why the option to choose it?(I didn't choose air fresner either)
Perhaps to get post counts reduced? ;D

Once had an MOT tester say he wanted to fail the car for too many spiders' webs underneath but couldn't figure out what section to put this in. Car had been sitting for months before I got around to fixing it.

The failure cert states a blown number plate bulb... ...first time I noticed it was as soon as it went up on the ramps...
-
And... ??????? ::) ::) ::)
-
Bored now. Tired of waiting :P
-
£50 says it was actually blown bulb and handbrake? Have I become a rich man very quickly? ::)
-
And... ??????? ::) ::) ::)
And what? The failure cert says blown numberplate bulb. Thats it.
-
£50 says it was actually blown bulb and handbrake? Have I become a rich man very quickly? ::)
The failure cert says it was a failed numberplate bulb. Only the single failure recorded.

Not what I voted for?

Bloody useless garage ... was it the same place that failed the last one over the airfreshner ??
Any decent place would have changed the bulb and passed it.
What has happened to "common sense" ?? or are they all looking to get some sort of computerised "statistic" that they fail x % ?? Bloody pointless.

I suspect its a stat - they fitted a bulb and immediately passed it.

Think I'd be looking for another garage for my MOTs... That place take the ssip too much >:( >:( >:(
Soooo.... Not only have you had the most ridiculous failure in the world, you now have the second too! ::) ::) ::)
Mustn't take the P.... :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X
-
One of the failures on mine was the number plate bulb, despite the fact that my reversing light doesn't work (knackered switch), which makes things seem even more stupid...
-
Look on the bright side, another four years and we should have an MOT tester we can shout at. ;D ;D

Oh, not too bad then.
But, like everyone else has said, I'm suprised they didn't change it. When any of mine go in, there's always an understanding that anything up to £40 that may need replacing is done without needing to ask me first. So that's usually bulbs, wiper blades etc.
Mine goes to an independant garage first, then to a MOT test station, so it's not direct. But it always works best.
-
I have no plans to change my MOTer ;) :-X

What were the advisories then?

Rusty Exhaust, he reckoned that won't be long (and I'd have to agree)

If they do not fail enough they risk being investigated - including having their licence to do MOTs removed.

Dont 100% agree with the wording of that comment. They can only fail what is genuine, and with the cost of an MOT these days motorists are doing thier best to make sure thier cars pass 1st time.
MOT stations are randomly testing with bogus cars, some with major faults and some with minor, I dare say they even take a perfect car for a test to suspect stations that they think are creating work for no reason at all.
The result is probly a better standard of cars on the road and less failures hence they now pick on stuff they can fail a car on that normally they would never have bothered with, like Jamie and his air freshner.

Although there are no targets, they have a target of about 30% to fail.
Work that out!

My dad is a retired tester, both him and the chap who MOTs my car now have told me if they do not fail enough they get checked VERY carefully.
Mine always fails on something silly then passes - usually the tow bar protecter plate.
