It's because you now have the new tures it feels like a new car would, obviously you had the tryes changed for a reason, The older tyres would have been less responsive and maybe a tad heavier to steer.

Before I had cars with power steering when I replaced old tyres with new it felt like I suddenly had powersteering, a week ortwo later I was used to the feel of them again and nothing felt any different as I had got used to them.

My theory. The self healing car. I have spent hours since OOF was created trying to figure out why my car was sluggish and then without me doing anything about three weeks ago it "healed itself" and is now a joy to drive again.

maybe lifting the car up to change the tyres remade a dodgy electrical contact e.g. rear multirams?  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I bet it is a 2.5 V6 circa 1997!
