You really need the codes reading properly to figure out what's causing the limp mode. I'm a bit far but you have Elite Pete and Darth Loo-Knee not far away :y
-
Are any codes stored? Is the EML on? You could try disconnecting the battery & leaving it for an hour or so & then reconnecting it to reset the electronics? :-/
-
Hello Lee mate :y How are things with you?
I've missed you mate :-* ;D ;)

were do i find the codes? what is an elm? sorry all new to me :(

The codes are fault codes stored by the car. EML is the emgine management light, you have 2 on yours but they are both orange under the rev counter.
You need to get a decent code reader as you can't read the codes off your car without one :y

The codes are stored in the cars ECU (electronic Brain) and it requires a specialist code reader to access them. The EML is the Engine Management Light which is the amber dash warning light showing an engine outline symbol. It comes on when you turn the ignition on & start the engine but then goes off if there are no codes stored. If it comes on during driving it means a fault in the cars emmissions system and shows that fault codes are stored. If it comes on & flashes continuously, then there is a serious problem which could damage the Catalytic Converter. The other dash warning light is the car symbol with the spanner through it. When lit, this shows there is a fault in the cars electronic systems.
Just in case you don't have a Owners Manual, here is a link to a copy :y

the one with the spanner stays on the first time. this is when the car takes longer than normal to start. the second time she fires up perfect and the light goes out .its not on again wilst shes running :(
-
The spanner light is on until the engine is running & then goes out, so that is normal :y
Incidentally, how do you know the car is in limp mode? A seemingly stupid question I know, but the more details known, the better/easier diagnosis? :y

hi there, i got in my omega sunday morning. turned the key. no joy. kept on for about 5 mins. finally got it running and when i moved off there was this awful shuddering. really didnt feel right and i assume this is what u mean by 'limp home mode'???
got the AA out. the guy plugged in a machine to the drivers' fuse box and read the electronic fault codes (all new to me).
he said id probably flooded the engine, he reset the computer and jumped in and it was fine. just keep running it for 5 mins it should sort itself. if it dont get the guys in yellow out :):):):)

He's talking shite! Get someone on here who knows what they are doing to read the codes, most likely the MAF or cam sensor.
[edit]Ignore the cam sensor, just realised yours is a V[/edit]
