I bought the car in August 99 and it has been a good car on the whole but in recent times has given some trouble. Over four years ago I "registered it" onto Spanish plates at great expense.
I recently bought a 3 litre Omega with the intention at the time of putting the engine and gearbox in mine as the bodywork is in better nick and it is fully legal on Spanish plates. However the 3 litre drives and runs so well I have decided to keep it as is. Just needs a long list of minor things sorting.
So what to do with the Spanish reg Omega?
1. Sell it as a runner. Would need an MOT to legally do that. For that it needs the exhaust quietening down, Repaired ABS ECU fitting, and a pair of new xenon bulbs fitting as one has gone. However it would still be using water (rear core plug?)
- Oh and I would be lucky to get 600 euros for it as it is RHD and someone would have to pay maybe 300 euros for government transfer taxes.
2. Scrap it. Would get nothing for it.
3. Break it and then hope I can persuade a scrapman to come and take away what is left!
Question is, is there much demand for Elite mini facelift saloon parts?. I could ship to anywhere but larger parts might be a stumbling block as I suspect in the UK people collect bigger parts. Interior is nice light cloth, light coloured rear blind and so on. Anyone in Spain want to upgrade their car?
What to do?

OH DEAR!!!!
Can tell you the spanish desgauce(scrappys) wont pay for any car unless it has a running diesel engine!! they actually charge for taking them in most cases, especially when they are rhd,
mate of mine had his damaged over here on spanish plates nissan primera i think anyway the long and the short of it was despite, brand new battery brakes ,exhaust, tyres and headlights for the spanish itv two weeks earlier, he got zilch for it from scappy and only avoided the towing charge by intervention from the insurance company,
I reckon your best bet is to place it somewhere out if your way and just use it as a source of spare parts for the next couple of years, will ask around about parts for you but they are pretty rare here as you know!! thinking about it i DO have the use of a Grua wagon(got to drive it to germany and back next week) so can probably help with that if needed? it has a winch so car only needs to be able to move on its own wheels,
let me know if i can help

i would try and fix the bits that need doing on the cheap like radweld for the leak a weld for the exhaust (lets be honest the spaniards are the ultimate bodgers) abs ecu fitting and xenons surely someone here should have a set going cheap and then sell it for what you can get it's gotta be better than nought!
