Title: Good first car?

Vauxhall Astra MK4 Coupe 1.8? Insurance group 9 (I know high for a first timer), but am  right in think they're good cars? Always have liked them, cracking looking things  :y

insurance will kill him as a first car. Even a 1.1 Fiat Punto you will be looking at a grand or two for insurance. Should imagine 1.8 Astra will be approx £2.5k+ to insure for a 17 year old....

But yes, good reliable car although to much grunt for a first one, you want something thats going to be capable of lower acceleration into his first ditch

My son is 17 soon and im going for a skoda felica 1.0 insurance is still high but not as bad as the likes of a pug,corsa or saxo.
First things first he needs a job to pay for it ::) ::)

my nip picked a pug 106 1.1. £3200 insurance with a tracker box and night curfew.

even aviva was £4000 for a standard policy.
