Hmmm I would take the 1.5k and buy a better Omega!

I spend what is necessary on a car. If it doesn't fix someting, or increase the cars value then I would not do it.

But I am older and have a different outlook on things!  ;)

I've got to agree with Dave... but then, I'm way too old for my years   :-/

Maybe I should go and get some green neons, some awful wheel trims, a silver gearnob and a pretend exhaust pipe for the Veccy...  ;D

Or a pipe and some slippers?  ;D

I came out of watching "the fast and the furious" to see two Smart Passions Neon'ed up outside the McDonalds opposite the cinema. Sad, really. If there's ever a case of money that could be better spent elsewhere.... They could have had the engine from my strimmer for a start.  ;D

Hmmm....I am also willing to pay out money to get a car upto my own level of service......and this is soemthing I would do on ANY car I bought.....and I also beleave Mr Laidback does this to.

Second hand cars are an unknown quantity.....it takes time and money to get them to a sate where everything is A ok.

You know I do... hence the large sum paid out for the exhaust system... shame it doesn't fit though!  ;D

It becomes personal after a time. I for example may considor spending sufficient on the MV6 to have a full bare metal respray.....economically it doesnt make sense....but sentimentally  :-/

Have to agree with what was said earlier, regardless of age, initial purchase price etc, Until it's at a mechanical level that I feel happy with then I wouldn't worry about what I'm spending.

But then, I suppose, I tend to keep cars for quite a while so by doing maintenance (Coolant, Oil etc) more frequently I hope to stop problems later on.

Definately no neons etc etc!

I bought my 99 Elite estate because I was after a manual gearbox and have since spent alot of money on getting it somewhere near right but I knoe I will never get the money back but it took me alomg time to find the right car and if I look after it, it should serve me for many years to come :y

i must admit, i've spent £2,400 on mine and will probably lose £1,000 wen i come to sell it, I dont plan on keeping it for a great length of time, I'd rather not spend any more on it with regards to modifications, I'm after an elite and i think it would be less costly to just sell mine and buy an elite in a year or so, the facelift elite can be bought for about £2,300 upwards and i'm looking to spend upto about maybe £2,800 for a really nice one, or maybe just an averagely nice one but with LPG in it!

Bought project Elite for £150, spent about £300 on it! £450, for an Elite with everything done engine wise - not bad!

see now personally now the stalling has been sorted it is mechanicaly fine i feel only the body work lets it down which is pretty much the bulk of the 1.5 k is going body work and body kit and the rest on service service first tho then the ugly bits sorted ive already spent more than its worth and i can see everyones point of view im young and i must take the max power key fob for my neons off my keys now as im out of that stage or am i hmmmm

but as said ive spent more than the cars worth so maybe i should kit it up and make it last me longer
