Just out of interest has anyone any ideas if my vauxhall combovan will run on veggie oil? its a 1994 L reg 1.7D n/a .
would it need to be slowly introduced to veg oil by mixing with diesel higer % of diesel 1st then gradually less and less.
Has anyone tried or currently using veggie oil?

They do say that the older engines are better with Veggi oil than the new ones, so it will be interesting to see peoples thoughts on this, i am thinking of buying an old diesel and supplying my own fuel.

if its an old gm i doubt that it would run with nitro let alone thick veggie.

I ran a '96 Rover 218 on ASDA's finest a few years ago. The only noticable difference was that it was abit spluttery when cold but once the engine warmed up it was fine. I mixed it 50/50 with diesel and in the summer about 70/30.
There was a slight chip fat smell though and I used to get paranoid in traffic jams :D Don't think that supermarket veggi-oil is as cheap these days :-/

In the past I've used this site which is very informative, you can (if you're inclined to) buy the kit and have a 2 tank system. I helped a friend do a 2.5 Rangie a while back which runs fine. http://www.dieselveg.com/vauxhall_combo_van.htm
The thing you have to look at is whether the diesel fuel pump can stand running veggie oil through it. Some are more robust than others because of the way veggie oil affects their seals. There aren't many modern ones that can, newer CDTI's tend to not like it much but older vehicles don't seem to mind. Check out this site, it tells you which diesel pumps are ok to run veggie oil http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/vegetable.aspx

PMSL ;D ;D ;D

I ran an Omega 2.2 dti on bio-deisel (recycled cooking oil) for approx 10000 miles and through the last winter, without any problems. Not tried actual veg oil from a shop.

i had a "m" reg 1.7 ( non turbo ) vauxhall engined estate a few years back :y
slow as break :'(
i used to run it on 70 % diesel / 30 % cooking oil ( one of my customers had a takeaway ;) ;) )
as long as you keep the filters clean, you shouldn't have any problems :y
the car will smell like a chipshop though as a traffic copper told me when he tapped on my window at some traffic lights and asked for fish and chips ;D ;D ;D
the 2.5 omega diesel runs great too :y
just don't forget to remove the bits of batter and the odd chip :y ;D ;D
as for the 2.2 dti
my advise is DON'T risk it !!! i know of 2 taxi drivers. 1 who used bio and shaged his pump within a year and the other one who put cooking oil in there and he did'nt finish the night shift !!!
with any dti or modern oil burner, just stick to the regular stuff :y :y
or buy a v6 and gas it ;D ;D ;D
