Title: Recommended site for tyres
Post by: bob.dent on 09 July 2007, 12:21:40
Just ordered 2 new rear tyres for my beast and the prices are by far the best I've found. Got 2 Falken FK452 265/40Z R17 for £85.78 each incl. VAT + £9.45 delivery. Doesn't include fitting of course, but my local garage will do them for a small fee. I'd previously been quoted around £130.00 each excl. fitting, and as they are exceptionally large tyres I think not a bad deal. :y

The site is tyretraders.com and delivery is next day.

Just did a quick compare on Nankangs NS2's.....mytyres.com are £2 cheaper  :y

Ordered 6 last week.....have had 4 fitted to veccyC (215's)

And 2x225's waiting to go on Omega........but

Think im gonna start buying em from Bathwick Tyres......the 225's anyway, Bathwick carnt get the 215's.

From mytyres.com 225's are £44.30 incl vat and delivery, i discovered last week that the local tyre fitters that has been fitting them has upped their charges and now charge £10 a tyre to fit + £1.25 to dispose of the old tyre.....making £55.55 per corner.

Bathwick quoted me £54.70 fitted......slightly cheaper and lot less hassle......and just goes to show tyres from the interwebby are not always the cheapest after you've added fitting costs  :y

I think it probably depends on make and size Dave. I looked on mytyres.co.uk and the price for Falken FK452's was £120.60 incl. VAT which is £34.82 per tyre more than I paid from tyretraders.com!! It's obviously worth browsing these sites for the best prices. :)

Tyretraders.com also have approved fitting partners, you can get a fitted price on the same web site. If there is one local to you go along there, they may quote a different price at first but tell them you have a Tyretraders.com quote and they should do it fo the same. Shouldn't then be a seperate cost for disposal of old rubbber! :y

Thanks for that :y I've just checked and there's one in Hatfield which is only 9-10 miles away from me. I've already booked mine in at my local garage for tomorrow as I'm having another bit of work done at the same time, but next time I'll  get a quote online then see if the depot will do the fitting for the same price.

I've always found local places cheaper than any internet sites & you can trade one off against another if you ring around  :)

Not too far wrong there Bo Bo have bought ties from a number of different places around the country and tried online, but still out of choice come back to my local independant trye and exhaust outfit. Best price, :) especially if you add petrol cost of travel into the equation.
