Title: The Ebay code reader mentioned
Post by: Martin_1962 on 18 March 2011, 15:24:08
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUTEL-MAXISCAN-MS509-OBD2-EOBD-Code-Scanner-Reader-Tool-/170603542308?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item27b8c37724

Does this require a PC connected to work or does it just read codes then download or upload stuff?

Thanks

Martin

Bumping this thread to ask a question of any MaxiScan owners ;)

Having just discovered that my venerable Gendan ELM323 scanner doesn't connect to the Omega (and from what I can gather, shouldn't :( ) I thought I might pick up a scanner that will..

The MS509 will work with a 2001 3.2, yes/no?

(The CEL just came on - the usual 0430 & 0420 - and it would be nice to be able to reset it myself ;))

Excellent, cheers Rob :)

It looks like a nice unit (either the GS500 or MS509) - although it's a shame it doesn't look like you can download live data to a PC.

I bought the one from the Barry recommended site - used my keyfob repair funds to pay for it.

No error codes but I reset the ECUs just need to learn to use it.

I want to monitor the emmisions to redo the LPG setup

Why doesn't elm323 work on a 3.2?  :-/

//TB needs to check what protocols the 323 can do....   ...327 certainly can do 3.2

I did some googling and (at least the one I have) it looked like the elm323 requires a pin that's not connected on the diagnostic port..

I have the same behaviour as this fella has with an Astra G: http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-118231.html (I know, I know, it's that site)
