Don't know if anyone knows anything about the meriva 1.4. Wifes has a random misfire, doesn't happen often and when it does eml comes on.
Runs like a bag of spanners when misfiring. I' changed plugs, fuel filter and all other things for a service and it seemed better for a while.
I've just got hold of a coil pack so will be trying that when it arrives but don't hold out much hope.
Weird thing is a few weeks back I put super and some injector cleaner in prior to MOT and it actually seemed quite spritely.

I'd get the codes read before randomly changing more parts, which might help more in the diagnostics process :)

Did that with the pedal trick when first had the problem and had Random misfire and misfire cylinder 3.
When car had MOT the garage read codes which were historical not current and same codes.
Car was due a service when I cahnged parts last time. And can't see any physical damage to coil pack.

Coil Pack failures usually start to manifest themselves with tiny hairline cracks around the mouldings where the coils themselves sit.

Got new part here, will try it when she gets in and report back.
Did notice some hairline cracks on my coil packs when putting back together after changing cam cover gaskets but running well so will leave well alone.

Put new coil pack on and took it for a drive, seems ok and eml went of for the first time in a week. :)
When looking at the old coil pack there are no cracks but signs of burning/scorching above two of the spark plug boots.
