Title: Focus anti roll bar links
Post by: Paddy Flannery on 20 June 2011, 18:10:17
Folks,

Your advice please ......... how much should I be looking to pay to have the rear anti roll bar links on a Mark 1 Focus replaced ?

Told it's a fairly quick job once the car is up on the ramp and that the parts are fairly cheap.

Local garage however has quoted £91. Highwaymen !

Thank you

Don't know for certain but I would imagine it's probably under an hour + parts. When you consider that most independent garages are charging £50+ per hour that quote doesn't seem that unreasonable ;) ;)

As above, by the time an hours labour is factored in (you won't get away with paying anything less on the first hour) then £91 sounds about right.

Sounds ok to me. It's a job to get anything done for less than an hours labour these days ime. Not necessarily car related either.

Maybe find a garage with a cheaper labour rate if possible. :-/ it's not a hard job.

And source the parts yourself. Don't buy tat though or you'll be doing the same again sooner. Will give you an idea of prices of nothing else.  ;)

TBH, I'd guess that for £91 fitted they will be the cheapest aftermarket ones available ;) ;)

Cheers for your replies gents.

Got the aftermarket parts at trade ( £12 for the pair ) and another local garage was happy to fit for £20 cash. Result.

The car was on the ramp for about 10 minutes.

Back to MOT tester for free re test and now got the passed MOT.
