Morning all,
has anyone fitted one of these and are they any good? I found one on the flea of bay that I'm considering possibly.
I'm only interested as it would make hooking up to the 'van a tadge easier ::)
TIA :y

Must admit, I'd be tempted to fit one for a hitching aid but just feel it's too much to spend for just that purpose :-/

Ditto. The one on the auction site is for £37 ono +£4 p+p, so not too expensive, but it is when your literally counting pennies to get by each week, lol.

Or you could learn to reverse park? ::) :-X :-X ;D ;D

Ouch, lol.
I can do that, just don't fancy actually parking the 'van literally in the boot though!! ::)

I guarantee I'd get into a smaller space than you ;) ;)
I only considered it as a hitching aid TBH, and would want to be able to get the image on the CID (which I know isn't possible/viable ;)) so not bothering ;)
I'll eventually get around to fitting a bumper protector plate, but I don't want one that's fitted permanently as I think they're a bit of an eyesore

Guessing you've got 'first hand' experience with that then? :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D
No doubt you could park 'van better than me, legally I would not be allowed to :(

Meant the car on it's own TBH... But the 'van isn't a fair comparison as I've done it for years and also done lots of trailer work :y

Same here!
There is quiet satisfaction in getting a 40ft artic in a tight spot, then seeing others in a supermarket car park make several attempts to park an average car!
I have to chuckle, it's amazing how many cant't reverse and drive nose in and totally screw it up ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

;)
I reckon it could be wired up to the CID pretty easily, TBH. Would need a box to convert the output to RGB and perhaps a sync separator. Probably not worth the while.
I don't find it too hard to reverse up to a hitch and get it close enough to couple up. It's just stopping before it cracks the number plate. ::) Perhaps a little infra-red beam across the number plate recess would be the best solution?

Except in an estate the number plate isn't there ;)
I know it "could" possibly be wired into the CID but it's a lot of work and not sure there's anywhere easy to hide the box of tricks ;)
TBH, I'm thinking of getting a heavy duty, removable hitch protector (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Removable-Bumper-Protector-/250811123896?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a658208b8) as it would make it much easier.
Other problem with the caravan is that if you have reversed it into position, sometimes the hitch will creep forwards once removed (if you forget to pull forwards a touch again) and press onto the bumper ;)

A mate of mine, made two old aerials with clips on,
one on the towball one on the hitch, reverse up until they touch, you are over the ball.
I told him to patent it.

Magnet on a stick. :y
Which reminds me.. chrisgixer - was it your magnet on a stick that disappeared during the rusty bullet LPG party or TheBoy's? 'Cos I've just stumbled across it sitting on a shelf in the garage.
No idea why it's taken 18 months to notice it. ::)

It's TB's. ;D and by the sound of it, is where I last saw it. On the silver racking. ...?
So it WAS gravel then? :o

Oh, no it was in a completely different place. Not surprised we didn't see it. It was on the black racking next to the silver racking. ::)

Yeah, I think we need a bigger bag next time.
