just come back from my hols. i hired a car for €35 a day. great price. not unlimited mileage but still enough for the very small island of thassos.
i was thinking kia picanto (as is normal out there) but ooooooh no no no. they give me this piece of junk.............
the hyundai atos. OMG! has anyone ever driven one of these? it looks awful. drives even worse. 2 good points were that it had electric windows (woooooo) and the steering was weighted quite well but in every other area its awful.
i did a quick search and even though they dont sell them anymore (replaces by the i10 i believe) it used to cost £6870 brand new???????????????????????? >:( >:( >:( >:( how could they sell this?
-
ps the pic was from google and not the actual one i drove. i couldnt bring myself to be photographed with my one!!!!

I had one when me & the misses went to Kos a few years ago. Horrible little thing, lacked power, really small & uncomfortable & halfway up a not so very steep hill it reduced us to about 20mph. If you turned the air-con on you had to 'get out & push it' to go anywhere.
-
ive never driven one
but last year i was in cornwall when my fiat decided it wanted to go home early, so it did with AA and i hired a car.
the only thing they had left was a chevy Getz thing.
im 6ft4. and not slim. it was 800c auto of pure power, the size was ok for thrashing around the smaller lanes, but 6 hour drive home fully loaded, i basicly had my foot on the floor alllll the way.
it had some good points for a tiny city car. it should never leave one tho!

Having driven one, and the i10 (which replaced the Getz, not the Atos), they are not that bad. Its a cheap car, with cheap car refinements. The i10 is currently one of the cheapest cars in the UK.
I think the worse I've had as hire cars recently are Hyundai Matrix auto (manual would have been fine, engine too small for Cypriot hills ;D) and a new style Corsa (truely horrible engine, except on open motorway, almost undrivable around town).

lol
What a nightmare, crappest car I have ever seen......!!!
35 euro too.....that aint cheap......!!!

you got that right mate. the biting point was right down low and the accelerator pedal seemed to depress about an inch! my foot was to the floor and it literally did nothing. i want to know who would buy this sad sorry car!

Trust me, the 2 mentioned above are far worse...

how can the hyundai i10 replace a chevrolet getz? ::)
getz is now chevy spark (its replacment)
not sure what the i10 replaced, they didnt half sale well tho!

Still, not as pig ugly as a Skoda Superb saloon (the estates aren't so bad).

plus also it sounds great to have the ''buttoned on'' roof down but you get stuck in traffic in 40 degree heat youre going to want the aircon on.
ps TB, i know you locked the thread for that guy possibly trying to sell his mig but i just wanted to say if you need a valuation the whatcar site seems pretty spot on for vals....

Nothing will value an Omega now, as they are in that 'bargain banger' territory, where one car is woth £100 more to a buyer because its 50m closer... ...and rust levels can make the difference between paying asking price or walking away at any price
-
slightly off topic but why was the omega scrapped in the 1st place? were sales right down or something?!? :-/

Probably didn't fit in with GM's strategy, and they had to cut costs. The Signum, although not a replacement, was a similar sized car, and was a new design (based on the awful Vectra-C chassis)

what chance a mig mark III?

what chance a mig mark III?
none i think.
i think it was called omega for a reason it means "last of, end of, last of series" so i think it was last of the rear wheel drives, didnt it fit in between the senator and carlton size wise? maybe thy were already thinking long term it wasnt going to be a runner.

Zero in the foreseeable future.
Like it or lump it, the future is likely to be electric based. That means small cars.

It ran for 10 years. I'm sure when they released it, they had visions of a replacement.
However in that time, they failed to win any reconition of the brand, and BMW/Merc/Audi/VAG won the battle of the luxury exec saloons. Also GM's finanicial troubles got even worse.
It was called the Omega-B, BTW, as part of the trait to merge the Vx and Opel models, as it was the replacement for the previous Omega-A (Carlton in UK). The Senator was replaced with the Elite - note, on launch, the Elite was not called an Omega.
