Title: Slow preheat (not omega hence in this forum)
Post by: Shelby on 02 August 2011, 09:40:13
I have an old M reg peugeot 106 1.5 diesel which is my more general use runaround.  I have only limited experience with cars in general and even less with diesels.

Basically, I am wondering if anyone has ideas on what to look at / check regarding what I consider to be long pre-heat time.  I seem to read that the average sort of time would be 4-6 seconds for preheat but mine consistantly takes probably around 20 seconds or longer.

I have replace the glow plugs which didn't change it at all.  When its heated (i.e. light goes out) it starts after 1 or 2 turns but runs a little lumpy for a few seconds, a slight touch of the accelerator for a couple of seconds settles it then it runs fine.

Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome.

Thanks, ill have a look.  I do have Haynes, which is useful to help me do what I want to do to it.  But being so unfamiliar with diesels I just didn't know where to go beyond the glow plugs  ;D

Glowplug relay failure on French vehicles is common, although I don't know the symptoms its still worth trying.
