Title: I am very confused about my gearbox!
Post by: car-nut on 19 August 2011, 01:02:27
yesterday my mate and I changed the engine oil, oil filter and the rocker gasket and O rings, before this change my gear change was jerky, it stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear, and now after the repair the gears are changing perfectly all the time. I am very confused, can the rocker gasket really have that much effect on the gearbox?

I am going to see how the gearbox go's for now and if it continues to be super smooth then I am tempted to put the gearbox service to the bottom of my to do list.

Cam sensor is known to upset the gear box on the desmonds. Presumably the cs was disturbed during the work? Was it covered in iron filings and cleaned?

Might be worth a code read for cam sensor fault anyway.

As silly as I probably am for not doing this, I didn't check the cam sensor or clean it, but it did get unplugged while we were changing the rocker gasket. I think I will buy some switch cleaner and clean all the electrical connections I can find including the cam sensor.
