Title: paint spraying
Post by: blue_dream on 21 August 2011, 21:12:35
Evening guys & girls
just a quick question, starting to do a bit of paint spraying on the old girl, wheel arches, tops of doors, just rubbing down the worst, treating it, fill where it needs it, primier times three then two top coats, my problem is this should i then leave the top coat to go off say three days before putting the clear lacquer on then leave it again before compounding to blend the paint togather   :-/ :-/
not to sure, can anyone help   :-[ :-[

nope.. top coat and clear laquer must be applied consecutively .. or your laquer may peel off..

and one more, if its not too expensive apply epoxy for those cleaned rust areas.. but definitely wear mask :y

nope.. after you apply the last coat of paint wait 5-10 minutes and appy the laquer.. ideally paint must be half wet in order to hold the laquer and half dry not to flow :y

also base coats (or whatever you use) must be sanded with 400 and 800 and 1200 (after they dry completely)

orange peel will always be there (except some expensive ideal conditions) so dont worry about it..

let the car dry for 2-3 days.. then sand with 2000 wet (carefully not too much stop from time to time clean and check) .. orange peel will dissappear.. but not easy job .. you will need a polisher..  :y
