Title: OOFers recommendations?
Post by: Stallion on 09 September 2011, 22:15:13
As the title suggest, I'm in the process of buying a waterpump, would like OOFErs tried and tested (places) and opinions on specific brands which might be better than others.
Thanks in advance!  :y
Ps. not trying to save money but after a quality part  ;)

So they say ..........
there could have been an argument for doing so when Vauxhall sold their pumps for a reasonable price, but now they don't I'd prefer to keep my OE pump rather than replace it with an unknown quality pattern pump. If your current pump is leak & noise free, then leave it alone.  :y :y

Not making any noise or leaking far as I know, what would you say is the life expectancy of a Vaux waterpump?? Reason I'm saying is for some reason I doubt it ever got changed by the previous owner!!

There was an ebay special a while ago and someone posted it up on here. £20 each.Rude not to. ;)
Having said that, I tend to agree with Andy on this. :y

Maybe slip the aux belt off and feel the wp baring spin. If it has play or is rumbly then change it.

Not changed one yet tbh. They all seem fine.  :-/

Leave it as is then. If in the event the pump fails at some time in the future it's not too difficult to replace anyway.  :y :y

I didn't get mine changed when I had the cam belt done, 6 months later I had to have another cam belt fitted because the pump failed and damaged the belt.... ::) ::) ::)

I tend to change mine every other belt.

I've seen the damage when a v6 throws an aux belt.  That said, as a minimum, I'd agree with chrisgixer on check pump bearings beforehand
