best out of the two i would have to say the punto, sorry. it has been faultless, and with stiffer springs fitted, the handling is excellent.

however, the omega has power for cruising, its far more relaxed and easier to drive, in spite of its size.

Yeah - NOT A SPOT OF RUST ANYWHERE. remarkable really, for one of these cars. even the punto (galv body) has a little bit of rust, but the omega is imacculate, even underneath.
thats one of the reasons why i bought it.

SO - i may tidy it up further with new headlights, but im viewing this car as a stopgap car, not a project.
if anyone wants a really tidy shell for a ex-police V6 (or even a V8 - remember the 1000bhp one?) im open to offers..... :) :y

I think you should be the one to take on the 1000hp V8!  ;D  :y

The headlights can be cleaned and polished easy enough, there's some guides on here on how to do it well, or just come back to this post and i'll tell you the best methods, T-cut is a good start.

yeah, could you give me some pointers on how to clean the headlights please?  :)
i was sure that they were knackered - nice if they clean up ok!
i looked through the guides and found nothing.

Things to do on the beast (now its running again, its more beast and less trollish :p)

1. find EGR sensor wire and reconnect LOL
2. clean out the idle control stuff, and that breather pipe
3. fit new dashboard lights - one is bust (bought blue bulbs off fleabay a while ago)
4. clean headlights
5. repair exhaust - blowing like a whore, and needs a cat as well

......6. Search for extra 4 cylinders & 850 hp  ;)

Here we are then matey, instead of reiterating what's already been said, have a read of these all the way through for what the experts have to say  :y

:)I've always liked white Migs. Reckon an Elite with grey leather would be a peach. :y

last night i got the dash bulbs replaced with blue LEDs off ebay, it looks brilliant!

in daylight its a bit "patchy" - the glow isnt completely even, but at night its so slight you dont even notice it.

il get some pics up soon

things still to do - clean idle control mechanism, repair exhaust, and clean headlights  ;)

....forgot to say, you've got a bit of chrome trim missing from the rear bumper as well  ;D  :y

What size tyres are on the car, it doesn't quite seem to sit right? Think some front foglights and clear side repeaters (available from vauxhall @ about a fiver!) would set it off a treat  :y

it had lower profile (forgot what exactly) tires on the back for a while, cos originals lasted 5 minutes. it now has two nice new ones same profile as the front ones (i think 205/65R15) cos those ones lasted just over 10 min :p

chrome trim  :question

i see nothing missing.... there is a slight scrape, on the right hand side of the back bumper.... nothing missing im sure....

things still to do: new MID, sort out brakes pulling to one side, and sort some other (the car *suddenly* pulls "in" to the corner, if its a right-hander (not left) and if its a tight enough corner. it just snatches. :( its not the tracking, i did that when i replaced the track rod  :-/
oh, yeah, and MAYBE lowering springs (recomend me a good set under 120 pounds please?) and colour-code mirrors, did this on the punto and it looks well  ;)
