Title: Another US - EU (CATERA - OMEGA) Conversion.
Post by: CateraMV6 on 25 January 2008, 14:53:48
I was searching through Google and found the web site of the owner...

I have been trying to find more pictures of it for a while now... looks like it started as a base Catera, and he might be from Poland which explains how he got all the parts for it...

He is one lucky man... I even like the plate on it... "CANT BY 1"

Ohhh the spedometer is not alum, in fact its just the regular plastic piece painted to look like its alum as well as the center bezel piece...

the back plate (states) is a legal requirement, but in some US states it's not a legal requirement to display a license plate on the front of the car so therefore many people use a novelty plate, usually with a slogan on, but in this case as he's gone for the euro look car, he's gone for a european plate!

i believe CateraMV6 has german plates on his and he replaces them with his US plates when in states that require it

Yep some do some dont... so in the states where front plate is not needed you only get one for the rear... I live in ILLINOIS so there I have to use the front like this...

But then when I go to my work state (MICHIGAN) i take it off and throw the MI state because when you are in Michigan the IL rules don't apply... so this is how I drive mine... only thing is that my front plate has the same numbers as the rear one... minus the "M"

Thanks mate... I have a few more changes planned, one of which is the rear wing which I got from a GTO and also new rotors probably slotted.  Then if all goes well maybe some new tires for those Astra wheels, and maybe I will convert to an X pipe after the cats...

Other then that I plan on keeping her clean as possible and drive the hell out of her.  Ohh  and a DIY for HID Fogs is coming up too.  I just need some warmer weather for that...

I also got a new rear piece that sits between the tail lamps so I am going to start on that soon as well and soon she will be transformed completely.

What SAT NAV is that and would it work here in the UK with an Elite facelift '01 head unit?

Not that I want one, I've just bought a CID from EdwardMickey, but that one looks great.
