hi Kate have you seen that program on discovery beetle crisis i think its called some nice cars on that program. Years ago i was sat in the canteen of a firm that fits 5th wheels to trucks and this bloke barged in through the door white as a sheet shouting and swearing and generally not a happy chap When he'd calmed down enough to talk the story was one of the other lads had a Beetle and it was a bit rough and the butt of a lot of wise cracks from white as a sheet man so beetle owner had had enough and said at dinner time I'll take you out for a spin apparently white as a sheet man gave him some more stick
the shouting swearing etc was the result of the spin iirc
0-60 5sec 135mph top end it had porsche this and that so while iam not a great lover of Beetles i do respect them and the work that goes in to them
cos you never know :) :) :y

Great Bug Kate. Super Beetle, right? In my time I've owned a '68 Karmann Ghia convertible and a '72 Type 3 Squareback. Almost bought a Type 2 Microbus but the jerk sold it to someone before I could drive the 2 hours to his place, and after he said he'd hold it for me. This was pre-cellphones. I love aircooled VWs. My next "VW" will be a Porsche 914 if I can ever find one that isn't half-eaten by tinworm.

[smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] Hi Kate, nice pic's of your Bug, but are they Ford Fiesta seats in it ::)
-
Yes its a 1600 super beetle and it's fairly quick for a beetle. I think the engine is a replacement from Mexico. The seats are out of a Ford, well spotted!
This is my fourth beetle. I used to a have a two tone black and cream convertible.
I knew a man who put a Posche engine in his beetle but his friend crashed it into a wall as it was so fast.

slightly off the subject but,a mile or so from where i live a couple of blokes have a business restoring old beetles and campervans, some of them look stunning when theyve finished with them, until last week that is when the old barn they use as a workshop caught fire, the place was gutted including all the current projects, poor blokes looked heartbroken. :'(
