Title: Soft top miggy?
Post by: Albatross on 11 May 2008, 20:39:12
There's a man in Texas with pictures of a Catera (US Miggy) facelift that looks like it has been made into a cabriolet.

Either this is genuine in which cse I'd like to know how without having a very sloppy chassis, or it is a mock effect in a kind of 70's vinyl roof stylee, but more effort put into making it look like a cabriolet, in which case I'd simply like to know...

WHY??

He's also apparently fitted a NOS kit to his car too

i don't think thats cabriolet, you can fit rubber tops to cars like they do to bumpers out there.

Its a massive cover i rekon... maybe to stop fade or something.

So why not on the bonnet and boot lid too? I don't think its to stop fade personally, but I can see what you mean by a big cover. In my experience of Texans, and I lived there for 3 years, it's probably a looky-likey cover, but the mentality is something I'll never understand.

If you notice the gold Caddy badges is it only a couple of short steps away from having a gun rack in the back window and a pair of horns on the bonnet.

If it is a genuine soft-top, I can't imagine what the handling is like. :-/

Well it's got the glass rear window in it (you can see the Heating elements in it) so I go with the 'cover' theory.

The silver package is apparently some fluffy seat covers and all the equipment you need to pan for gold.

Bronze package is a full 8 track setup (mono) with a selection of country hits included.

 ;D

they probably do estate cateras with wood panels on the doors ;D ;D

I used to love those old vinyl roofs back in the olde days like the one on the cortina 2000E on life on Mars but they never stayed nice for long they where a bugger to keep clean and shiny
