As many of you are aware, I have a 2nd Tech2.
-
I wondered how long it would be before you let the cat out of the bag!
You should sell it to me, for £25 ;D
-
Obviously the hire option would have to have some form of guarantees of return built in.

I like the hire idea - but maybe a bit cheaper for Omega Barons? ;)
In all seriousness, because have two, I'd sell it, and get the ££.
-
And until you sell it, put it in onether location so its generating some income!

I think Mark's hinting something TB ;D
But if he's not, then give it to me, I get loads of occasions I could use a Tech2, and I'll go 50/50 with you ;) :P

And where would you recommend - somewhere in the middle of the country, say East Midlands area.... ;D

How about central London, i hear Covent Garden would be good ;)
-
Realistically, for it to generate some income for Jaime until it is sold, it needs to be in the hands of someone who knows exactly how to use it.
Aside of TheBoy, that leaves Mark.
The Centre of the Omega world also seems to be a logical place. :)
-
i've seen it been used plenty of times :D
Not really very difficult after Omega and its year and engine size has been selected ;)

Why, coz you live nearby ;) ;D
I wonder why I am getting lots and lots of PMs at the moment from various people ::) - no lack of volunteers to 'look after it' ;D ;D ;D

Ah, you got it wrong already - you need to select Diagnostics, then year, then model, then category, then specifics ;)
No Tech2 for you then Tunnie ;)

I since i will be commuting to London, and can get off on a large number of stops on the way to London. I think i would have the greatest range ;)
-
I'm only half - serious, realistically I wouldn't use it nearly enough to justify holding it. And no, I didn't PM Jaime asking for it :)
-
I did think about buying it from TB......but i would need it to do CAN which i think is another load of dosh for the upgrade :( And i still havent found out if the tech2 can read dual fuel ECU's.
VeccyC is going to vx dealer in Bath shortly for LPG issue......must remember to ask or even see if i can get a peek at the kit they use.

A CANdi is expensive, usually around $500 - $600, and is required to do Astra-H, Veccy-C, and Signum.
As for Duel Fuel, if ever you get a fare over this way, we can always give it a go :)

I'll hopefully bring veccy over weekend after next, so we can test it on that....

That would be interesting experiment.....but if it can i dont think it will prove that a tech2 will read the veccyC lpg ecu.... :-/ but would be worth a visit to TB's first before dashing off to the vx dealer in Bath :y

One question.....
Why / How have you got 2 tech2's?

Thats a good idea.....you could always include a condition that if a least 180 people dont buy a ticket.....the raffle is cancelled and tenner refunded ;)
-
Not a bad idea.... :)
I'll have 2 tickets!
-
Forgive ignorance but what is a Tech2 and what does it do? :-/

tech2 is the unit used to talk to car's ECU, used on nearly all Vauxhall's
It reads fault codes, gets information from sensors,

You saw the for sale one, in fact it was plugged in your motor

Hmmmm :-/ - thats an idea ;)
Would that count as gambling, and would I need a licence?
-
Not gambling, simply a prize draw. We had one on the other side (which I won!). No problems at all.
Seen them done for cars on other forums.
£10 a ticket, run it for say a month or 2 (or until donations reach a certain level) and then 1 lucky donor gets a Tech II! :)

Yes and yes, strictly speaking....
Check out this web page.
http://www.caradon.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=10436
and look in particular at the reference to Private Lotteries towards the bottom of the page.
I know its a different Council but the wording is quite generic....
As far as I can briefly compare, we can fulfill as per the first bullet point without any great difficulty. No doubt some stronger legal minds could possibly interpret further as required.... If serially numbered tickets were issued on payment of a fee, then I forsee no substantial difference from tickets sold for a local garden fete or church fayre....
Would suggest a tentative enquiry with your local council to establish the relevant form needed (with fee, think its about a tenner) but would perhaps be tempted to be 'economical with the truth' as to how and where it will be conducted, unless pressed. ;)

There's one on fleebay at present, a genuine one by the looks http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TECH-2-GM-Isuzu-Vauxhall-service-diagnostic-tool_W0QQitemZ260133798156QQihZ016QQcategoryZ30921QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I wonder how much it will go for ;D ;D ;D

I think the Isuzu one only has a 10Mb card, which isn't big enough for the up to date Vauxhall software. A new 32Mb card can be bought, but as its linear, not ATA, its hugely expensive. I have details of where you can get a 32Mb card, but by time you've paid import duties, expect it to be over £200 (and thats with the strong pound!)
-
So when does the draw start then, and how much are the tickets ::)

Its something I need to consider carefully, not sure its a route I want to take...

Just say your doing it for charity mate! donating the funds to the wifes credit card account don't you know :y
-
That was fairly conclusive then.....
-
Personally I would pimp it out to Mark, I'm actually surprised he has not got one and with his network and the right agreement, both of you could benefit. Mark, what do you use currently?
OR
Sell it to the forum for premium members to book, members pay for courier and get a cheap diagnostic - imagine that, the first forum to have such a facility
-
I Think you should drive it up to Nottingham on Wednesday, and 'lend' it to Mark, just in case he needs it on my car, plus it gets me a ride to pick it up again as the father in law's Vectra needs a key programming and would like a check out / update.
As a bonus for you, you can then compare your lights to mine to decide if you need a new set. :y

'Premium Members' do not exist here - we're all the same ;)
If it was to go to another location, either temporarily or long term, it would have to be to someone I trust, and to someone who knows how to use and interperate the results.
I have spoken to Marks_DTM_Calib, and am delighted to announce he will be looking after it for a while :D. MDTM is in the right area to be able to cover many members, and is one of the few people I know who will be able to truely appreciate what the machine is saying during a diagnostic test (unlike many dealers, who believe the 'Replace ECU' that machine sometimes says!).

True, point taken! Good news then, lots of people happy - Shame you all live so far away from me, I could do with a diagnostic this weekend...
-
MDTM's Tec2 43 Miles from me......
The Boy's Tec2 50 Miles from me.......
Nearest Vauxhall dealer...... I don't really care now!!!!

Is Solihull really that far :o

Probably not, don't know your postcode so couldn't be accurate. That was using maps.google but I'm sure I know plenty of shorter routes.....
Must get over to you and get the autobox updated..... ::)
Edit.... Just modified the route to go via Warwick.... 40 Miles now!

Yup, the short cut to Warwick is much shorter/quicker than M42.
Brackley is so small, that a specific postcode will make little difference ;)
-
Good work fella, now whats the timescales ;)
Ive 2 (independant) tech2's within a mile, dont trust either of em
Ive 2 dealers within 5 miles, cant afford either of em (before you get onto trust)
Ive 2 more dealers within 15 miles, can afford, no trust in 1, the other ever so slightly more competant.
Thats 6 within quarter of an hour.....BUT
Would still rather drive to TB or MDTM as they can use it!
-

Hopefully soon.... ....its sat here doing nothing, I need it to start earning its keep!
