Title: HID Upgrades TEASER Shot...
Post by: CateraMV6 on 16 February 2009, 12:42:57
I spent the good part of a month gathering components in order to upgrade my HID housings.... The result is stunning!

I have never seem my headlights shine so far or so wade before!

I used RX330 NON AFS assemblies in place of the old retired A6 projectors and it just looks fantastic...

SO how did you make the new lenses?

Well as far as the painting goes the ouside bezel that covers up the reflector body comes off so I painted that black.

Then the actual optics... I removed the old A6 Projectors, created a new mount plate with holes and installed the new projector in place of the old one...

Sealed everything back up and did a nice sand and polish on the lenses...

The output is mad bight and wide and I love it... it feels like I didnt have any headlights at all before!..

I will take more pictures and post them soon

Well the headlights were still somewhat dirty due to the rain but here are some better shots of the cutoff...

Here are a few more pictures of the output....

Picture of the Clear Lens...

Cutoff on the Garage...  COLOR SHIFT...   (Couldnt figure out the camera settings) There is a good amount of color at the cutoff line but I couldnt get it to show on the pictures... and also my headlights were dirty and wet because it was raining the last few days...

This streak of light above the cutoff line becomes much thinner and sharper in the distance and it causes a flicker effect for the oncoming drivers but it does not blind them... simply there for color/flicker.

WOW thats Stunning !! :o

I'm also trying my OEM Hella mirror and the inside 'glass'  to clean, the mirror with only an dry micro fiber towel ! Glass cleaner will put of the chrome from the mirror's.

My Omega had OEM Hella with original xenon.

Is there also original Xenon available on the Catera ? i never seen the Headlamp wash nozzles on the Catera, in Europe Original Xenon comes only with an wash and automatic leveling system.

Btw, thanks for you're PB, I 'will answer tonight (I'm @ Work atm  ;) )

Well in the States the DOT standard doesn't do a whole lot but to provide most of us with the crappiest stuff out there...
They don't allow for clear cutoff, or glass lenses.. instead its plastic stuff that fades real bad in a few years and crappy reflector designs...

SO the Headlight washers and levelers are not required so company's use that to save money by charging you the same amount but not providing them...

I modified mine with Lexus RX projectors some clear lenses and Custom curved shields... and the output is amazing... Sharp colorful...

Soon I will have some of the other parts installed and I will post more pictures...  ::)
