Title: FL conversion
Post by: Bumbazor on 18 May 2009, 19:51:25
I have changed the bumpers and bump strips. I kept the bonnet, headlight trims, and grille. I had to cut the grille down though. I think it looks ok. What do you think? Has anyone ever done their conversion this way?

I did think about the mirrors but they're quite expensive although I'm not ruling them out just yet. I'm more likely to get them if I see some at the right price than purposely go looking. Or, I might just spray the black bits on those I have now. It would be cheaper.

Looks good mate. Congrats on the conversion. If I were you, I'd go for the mirrors and would also do some modifications with the grille. Maybe put in some mesh?? And a little Irmscher badge would look good too  :y :y

The grille is the next thing I want to get sorted but I don't have many ideas to compare. I'd like to custom make one and put mesh in but I don't know how hard or easy that could be.

Super transformation  :y
Maybe VX1 will come back to me for some facelift bumpers as your mig is proof it can be done without too much hassle  ::)

Yeah it can be done easily I'd say. There might be a few custom brackets to make up but nothing that's difficult.

youve seen what i done with my grille, i know the problem youve got is making the grille narrower on the bottom, i think its an irmy one youll need & chop it down on the bottom edge, the meshing isnt too difficult to do :y

Looks good 8-).
I'm going to do the same to mine soon with the exception of the front bumper as i prefer the original:y.
I've got the rear bumper and the side mouldings, just need to have them all sprayed along with the front bumper :).
I would also as you like to fit the Facelift mirrors but as you say are ridiculously expensive compared to old style ones :o.

Hi there noticed your going down the face lift route,
I did the exactly same to my 1994 L miggy (see piccies in gallery) Ive gone the whole hog though; mirrors,bonnet/grille,sill covers,lights,mv6 fr/rr bumpers, headlight wash jets, door strips,I thought about getting the boot lid but it'll be a lot of work getting the lights on the rear quarters to fit!! :)
I had to change all 4 inner wheel arch covers aswell,

Keep up the good work its looking good :y

I think it looks really good! :y

It also has given me an idea for mine if the Pre-facelift Irmscher Front bumper gets smashed...............................

I think it works really well and well done for trying it out in the first place.
Nice one!
