HI there and thanks for the reply, sorry i cant send in thai as i dont have the keyboard to suit, but nice to read Thai again, have you seen the pic's of my omega Black Beauty with my Thai stickers on the rear window, it's a 2000 3.0v6 elite with full irmscher kit on it and a full on stereo install, mainly Pioneer, with Sony amps and JBL subs in the rear deck, we had 8 12 inch sub but changed them out for the 2 15 inch JBL GTi's, just for information was the omega an offical import to Thailand and did they have the facelift model out there as i have only ever seen a few of the pre facelift models, my friend also dismantles Vauxhall's the Opel Name here so if you need some thing for your car i may be able to help, hope you have time to check out all the picture's of my car and let me know what you think, if i get to Thailand sometime soon i would love to see your car for real and feel the power of the twin turbo engine,
Thanks Kack

Lovely omega, the only way you can take the car back to Thailand, without costing an arm and a leg is to have the car registered in your name over here for at least 1 year, then you move back to Thailand (e.g. and you can take as much gear back with you tax/duty free) information is all on the Thai customs website, have looked at this a few times, otherwise shipping across will cost a fortune and you can only keep the car in the country for six months doing it through standard shipping.

Myself and my wife (from Thailand) we live in the north east (issan) when we go out for holidays to Thailand.

Hi there,
My name is AD also from Thailand, Pun asked me to visit and join this site. I don't know if I can post pictures as I'm new to this but will try.
First of all, let me say something about Opel (yours is Vauxhall) Omega situation here in Thailand. Omega's had been imported since Omega A came out. The first Omega B was introduced in 1995 (1994 model) and had been marketed here until around 1998, most were sedan(saloon) with 2.0 version. Very few MV6's were imported. If I'm not mistaken, only 50 Wagons were imported through those years, also in 2.0 version. Mine is a wagon. We have 2 clubs here for Opel, first one is www.opellove.com (established 7 years ago) the other is www.opel.in.th (2 years old). You can visit both sites but maybe you will not be able to see pictures unless you register in.
As Omega is more than 10 years old, parts are expensive. And yet, engine has too many sensors that need replacements very often. So, quite a few owners, including myself, have their engine changed to a Toyota engine code JZ. There are 2JZ (3.0) and 1JZ (2.5) to choose from, both come with either turbo or non-turbo. 2JZ seems to work perfectly with 3.9 ratio final drive (originally in 2.0 Omega). No problem with availability of the engine as there are a lot used engines from Japan. No problem also with wiring and electronic thing. Thai people are keen with this, it's an easy task.
Once you change the engine, front discs and shocks need to be replaced with those from MV6. Used parts are available importing from abroad. Now, you can use your Omega trouble-free with this modification. According to our law, we can not import used cars (CBU), unless you are a Thai citizen staying and owning that car abroad for more than 18 months and would like to bring the car back when you return. That's all I wanted to say at the moment. Will try to post pictures after this.

Hi Kack,
Nice to know you. Now it's me, AD, the real "ThaiOmegaLover".  I had given my name and password to a friend to  have him help posting all the pictures above. His name is Anucha, one of the administrators of www.opellove.com. Thank you very much Anucha. None of us here in Opel Omega community is a movie star. The car with some bodyguards around belongs to a core member of the club. He just happened to visit the site where they are running the camera for a movie. Then he asked them to take a picture with his car. Will talk to you more Kack. I have something to take care of now.

Hi Simon, I won't recommend the twin turbo engine (2JZ GTE VVTI) because there is not enough space for the twin turbo. Therefore, if you put the engine in you have to get rid of the steering gearbox and find a "rack and pinion" type to replace it. In case of Pun's car (with the twin turbo), he uses a Rack& Pinion from a Honda. Handling result is not satisfactory.

Hi if the twin turbo is not a simple straight swap i have a fancy for a 4.0 v8 from a lexus ls400 for my Omega, any one tried to fit anything like this before, if it will work i am stealing my father in law's car and stripping it out ;D

Hi Kack,
Some of us here were trying with the V8 from Lexus but there would be too many modifications involved as the engine is too wide for the Omega. It's not worth it, though.
I think just a simple 2JZ GE VVTI from Toyota Aristo is good enough for driving in any traffic conditions. However, if you mainly drive out of town, a 1JZ GTE VVTI (single turbo)suits best for Omega. It's fun to drive, but not good for congested traffic 'cause the turbo won't boost below, say 2200 RPM.

Now where can you buy an omega in Thailand?, I know they'll be pre-facelift and GLS spec., and probably be asking for silly money aswell compared to what we would pay in the UK.

There has been no brand new Omega for sale since around 1998 when the importer& dealer stopped marketing Opel. GM has come to market their cars by themselves but under the name of Chevrolet. Now we have Chevrolet Safira, Aveo, Optra, Captiva, etc. but no Omega. Used Omegas are sold here very cheap like most European cars except Mercedes and BMW, which are still popular and regarded as prestigious cars.
