Title: Not an Omega But
Post by: andyc on 14 July 2010, 17:04:02
Its still GM and this is what i do when not selling parts

Just got these pics send over from a friend of mine. I done alot of work over the winter and spring on this car.

All the suspension from and back was removed, striped, epoxy coated and new poly bushes fitted.

Rear axel has been replaced with a new LSD and all new bushes.

New 9" clutch with monza Flywheel and extra long clutch pedal.

25 ltr of wax oil underneather plus all box sections and loads of other jobs.

The pics are from a photo shoot last week and the car is featured in Classic Car Mart up againist a Capri.

Oh and this is one of only three Mantas in the UK with Factory AC, and i look after the other two

I loved my early Berlinetta SR Manta coupe, but it wasn't easy putting two little kids in the back so it was replaced with a 2.2 Carlton.

is that interior trim pattern standard ?
Title: Re: Not an Omega But

The interior has been re-trimed and the door and seat material was a reproduction of the Opel Blitz material thats was found in the i240 i400 road cars.

The orginal just isn't available so some friends of mind in the US had this re-done, had to have a 1000 meter run done and now have enough for one car set left which is spoken for.

If we get enough deposit paid ordered we will do another run but a 1000 mtrs is alot of cars.

Engine is coming out again in the winter and we are having a 2.4 Blue Printed engine built and the engine bay will be stripped and repainted.

The owners very pleased with the car but hes trying to find some 20mm higher springs at the moment as these have a 40mm drop which is a little harsh but it does stick like...... to a blanket round the bends

So now i have that coming back. I've a roof skin to fit to another coupe, complete bare shell rebuild on another, some touch up work to do on the 79 coupe to get ready for the 40th Manta Birthday trip to Holland in Sept, a Nova 16v to put back together, a Senator A1 thats having a half rebuild and will then be going to North Caroliner, my GT has got to be started and i've got to started on  getting the V6 block in my Manta so i can start on the mounts and exhaust.

Oh and not forgetting the Omega which i'm collecting parts for as thats ear marked for a bare shell re-build as well....one day

I'm half way setting up a Blog for all this work to go on but the PC has now packed in, oh well onwards and upwards

I know how you feel - currently in the yard I have.....

my part-built Lotus Carlton, requiring the other side welding and the engine rebuilding and installing (no fuel injection yet !)

The Bentley Mulsanne Turbo - currently up in the air with all of the suspension and hydraulics off. Transmission coming out soon, too

Grey mini-facelift MV6 build to finish - currently lacking engine and transmission. This was for me, but will now get sold.

Volvo T5 cylinder head rebuild

Jaguar XJR-S awaiting rear brake rebuild & water pump change

Peugeot 309 GTi currently getting cylinder head rebuild.

and that's just stuff for the next month or two

Would of thought there were plenty of those around now....or was it only Astons of Melton Mowbray that sold all the 2.4 petrol and 2.3 diesel long wheel based ones  ;D
