Title: Refinished the OEM 17" Wheels for Winter USE!!!
Post by: CateraMV6 on 11 September 2010, 18:42:29
So these are going to see nothing but winter use and I decided to paint them with some flat aluminium paint from Walmart... cost me around 4$... then I hit them with some Clear Coat left over from when I painted the spoiler...

Te results are impressive.

Don't the insurance companies go apeshit if you change stuff over there? They use it as an excuse to get out of paying here.

Well  the car is fully insured so if something ever were to happen to it they will pay the value as of today.

Otherwise lets say I crash it with these wheels... the fact that it has different wheels on it doesn't make any difference.
But say I want to keep them, they wont let me so it sux in that sence.  Anything that I have installed on the car, in case of an accident the insurance keeps it all.

When you insure your car over here, they ask if you have 'modified the car in any way?'. That statement can be used to refuse a claim if you have so much as changed a piece of bodywork trim.
If you tell them you have, say, changed the steel wheels for alloys, the premium rockets.
They've got you by the nuts every way. Don't know what the premiums are like there, but I read the other day, ours have gone up 30% in the last year due to 'uninsured drivers'. Yeah...'dangle berries'.

Thanks all for the comments, I will try to post some more pictures of the wheels on the car with the new Opel logos, and the tires of course.

Precisely, I run summer 18" wheels with summer tires on them, and for the winter to preserve those, I got a nice set of Bridgestone Blizzaks WS50... sized at 245/45-17 all the way around.

Without those the car is not much good in the snow.
