I was going to order an Irmsher Grill as a little treat for the car. Before i did though i have tested the water with rubbing down spraying and lacquering it Black. Cant make up my mind whether it looks ok and i should save my money or just buy a proper one.

What do you think? :)

tbh, if it didnt have the V in the middle it would be ok,
but imho, no it doesnt look right..sorry. ;)
-
Doesnt help my car looking like it has a black eye. Ruddy sun! ;D
-
I think I'd buy a proper one ;)
-
nope.. its ok imo.. dont disturb my eyes.. :y
-
Perhaps try changing the griffin badge for something else in chrome perhaps, to break it up slightly. Otherwise I think it looks better than the chrome as it is in standard. ;)
-
to me - looks like someone has 'nicked' the chrome.
just doesnt work for me, but each to their own :y

Whether you decide to keep it or not, atlest you got a idea how a irmscher grill will look on the miggy! (without the v).
I say will look good if you get a irmscher or steinmetz one! :y
-
not really my cup of tea that look. :-/ :-/ :-/
But it's your car -- you have what you want :y :y :y :y :y
-
That doesn't look right Dan - sadly.
-
I like it looks good!
-
I say have a go at making yours a debadged one.
Seeing as you're thinking of replacing it anyway.
Get some of that p38 fibreglass stuff or whatever it is, and try and removed the V and replace it with straight across bars.
Bit of sanding then, and some paint again and it will look pretty good.
Would need to bridge the gap temporarily with something, while you shape and set the fibreglass....
But you know what i mean.

I did that to my grille about 3 months ago in matt black, I like the look :y :y
-
I'm not overly keen on it myself. However, you don't need to go to the expense of buying a genuine irmscher grill. Replica's are available on flea-bay for about 40 quid! :y
-
Im not keen on that look i must confess ... i bought a replica grill on an auction site and stuck an Irmscher badge on it .
If interested ill pop up a pic of what it looks like so you can see your self :y
-
It looks like it's been stolen. :(

Like This Maybe...............

Had a genuine black irmscher one on mine (dark green miggy) didnt like it at all. On a light coloured miggy the black ones look great. been after a black one with the chrome trim. I think it would lighten up the front just enough. Was thinking of trying a slightly different way to yours, Maybe paint the slats in the grill silver.
just my opinion :)

Dan, naah...
Sorry :-/
-
Personally, as I suspect you realise, it doesn't look too good.
Simple answer though :

Cheers guys for all the advise. My conclusion after it being on the car for a few days is it looks toss. Going to order a replica Irmcher grill and will post some 'better' pics soon.
Glad i had a go at least ;D
-
I think it would have looked really good if you had left the vauxhall badge silver!
