Title: My 97 Elite spec 2.5TD manual estate
Post by: bootie on 23 May 2011, 17:16:23
Finally got photobucket to work a bit faster so here are some of the pics of the new aquisition. Quite a few pics actually!
Filled up here just out of Bristol(http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/bootie3367/HPIM1483.jpg)
This was in the car park!
Few pics of the blemishes found

Stayed here the night with an old friend (very posh)
Then continued with the drive up to Scotland, finally arriving at my Son's cottage
(http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/bootie3367/HPIM1502.jpg)
Used her for the rest of our time there once the leak of pipes had been replaced, decided to power wash and this was the result.
(http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/bootie3367/HPIM1500.jpg) What the pics don't show is the amount of top coat that came off as well! :'(
(http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/bootie3367/HPIM1501.jpg) :( >:(
Then off to the unit where she will stay until either me or SWMBO needs her. Sharing this space with these

Oh yeah and the storage is free! The chap that owns it is, as you can see a bit of a car nut and is more than willing to allow me the use of any and all tools (bonus) should I need them. :y

Only a couple of small niggles to sort out but I can take my time over them!

Cheers

Jon

interesting pictures.. lovely garage.. :y

not sure it will be economical but if you want to keep this car you need to clear all its paint until bare metal, sand all those rusts (before it eats the car) , and have a proper paint job  :-/

Yep, the chap that owns all the Healy's has a pet paint man, he will ask him to have a look and let me know...mate's rates of course!
I was intending to have the blemishes dealt with properly anyway but the bonnet is an added cost I could have done without and yes I do intend to keep the car, definatley a keeper, I've waited long enough to get hold of a good one.

I know it's been a while but I'm off back to the UK on Thursday and will be picking up the car from the body shop.

It had better be bloody good as it's costing more than I envisaged.
They had a cheapo digi camera for the duration and have assured me that they took pics of the process so, hopefully I will be posting up some nice looking estate pics in a few days time. Looking forward to having her back on the road (make a change from borrowing the yong lads A6 Allroad!)

So here are the pics taken by the body shop. I make no apologies for the content..... they had free reign to take snaps as and when they could.

There are others so here is the link to that album.http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/bootie3367/Omega%20TD%20Elite%20Estate/ (http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/bootie3367/Omega%20TD%20Elite%20Estate/).

You know that thing, 'Sods Law' Especially after getting an almost full respray...... Car was parked outside the young lads place and it was a bit blowy last night. Me and the missus were watching a bit of 'Merlin' on the iPad and around 1230 we heard a loud crash!

Ran outside and saw this (http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/bootie3367/DSCF0074.jpg) (Imagine it's pitch dark and hissing down with rain, wind blowing about 40 to 50 knots.
The Omega was parked in front of the white door of the garage, didn't escape completely unscathed though, a small branch did hit the roof at the rear and has left a couple of marks, hopefully they can be polished out. Couldn't take the chance that more wouldn't come down so moved her to a safer place. I would have been gutted if it had been badly damaged, I haven't told the insurance company yet about the respray so I would have only got 'market value' if it had been written off (probably) by the tree.
Anyhoo, the wind has died down and the sun has come out, time for a quick wash and brush up and photo opportunities somewhere in the Glens possibly.

I intend to take more pics of the repaired areas with explanation of work done cos they had to do a bit of welding as well as just paint prep.

Jon

Well, got the new screen fitted this morning, 75 quid excess :(
Went back to the body shop to be told the boss has said no to any form of payment from them.
Looks like a small claims court appearance then. It's not that I can't afford the excess, it's just the principle really.
I know the screen didn't have the crack when they took it in (with no customer check sheet) and it was there the evening I collected it!

I will write the manager a letter taking some of the points mentioned in this thread and see how it goes from there.
