Title: Swap?
Post by: pedroMV6 on 07 November 2010, 12:11:20
How things can quickly change in life!
I'm willing to swap this -
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1286393490
For a small car suitable for a 17 year old.
Corsa 1.0 or such like.

Before you swap for anything, I would check out insurance for a 17 year old.
I have sat in my driveway a 2002 Citroen Saxo 1.1 in black for my 17 year old son. Insurance varies from £880 with provisional licence to £3200 with full licence.

If it is for a female driver expect to pay 40-50% less.

people are under the false assumption that a small 1.0 corsa/saxo etc is cheaper to insure for a young driver than say a 1.4 or 1.6 rover 25/45 etc.

stay away from the boy racer cars, they are penalised because of their popularity

Neck end of £2k for Master Vamps in a 1.0L Citroen Saxo, though got it down £400 via Admiral Multicar.....

I still can't beleive it didn't sell it's a very nice car. I would love to have something like that one day. If only I had the money  :( but as usual the 'ongoing project' that is Omega ownership prevents me from using my own vehicle at the moment. In the voice of Wayne from wayne's World - "You will be mine, yes one day you will be mine"  :)

Summat in the history told me it was originally a plod car from Darlington, but buggered if I can find that piece of paper again!
Saying that, it's not got any holes in it that it shouldn't have! :y

I should have an X10XE Corsa in by the end of the week. It's an 'X' plate with 43k miles, silver, 3dr.
The other vehicles I have are more expensive and probably not suitable for a 17 year old.

I would love this Mig, but as usual finances never in place when you want them lol

Ibiza usually has a good body but parts are expensive for them and hard to get hold of!

Car is still here, but to all that PM asking my 'best or lowest price' it's £1000...... that won't include the grille as I'm gonna fit that to the truck project.
Any lower, and it would be cheaper for me to re-insure and use it now and again. :y

When I was 17 anything with wheels would do  :o  (which turned out to be a Morris Ital - so I'm not joking).

yes true parts are expensive but most are available from vw as they are on the polo platform and there's plenty of piates around for them

Went for a cheeky little drive in the Omega yesterday - as much as I like the Vectra for it's economy and daily use, it ain't an MV6!!!

As said, I really don't wanna sell, but the drive is now full - even the Carlton is outside at the mo due to the truck project, which hasn't been touched for a few weeks, but plenty of time yet! :-[
