Title: FS: Monroe Adjustable Estate Rear Shocks
Post by: MutantCav on 03 March 2009, 14:40:44
These can be manually adjusted to the required pressure dependant upon load etc and ideal for caravanning...

No idea what they are new so guessing on a price (based on cost of self levelling shocks)...someone correct me if its way too much...

£80 for the pair delivered  :y

Sounds on the money for second hand shocks:

Do they come with all the bits to (I presume hoses and valves etc) just to fit straight on. Don't know much about these types, seen some fitted years  ago to a Carlton saloon, had the valves in the boot.

Yes mate, the works  :y All nuts and bolts, tubes and brackets, the shocks just go in place of your existing ones and the little air tubes run to a valve in the corner of the spare wheel well that you use to adjust the pressure to what you want :)

Used to have a pair of Monroe air shocks on my pontiac with the gauge etc.

Bloody good piece of kit.  Std tres for the car were 215 -15's which equated to 215/78/15 as apparenly standard wall were 78% of the width for road tyres.   Went on to run 215/60 VR 15 P6's.

Air shocks worked well in both cases and allowing for ride hide adjustment when the boot was loaded.

Also ran a HUGE set of Truck tyres in a bet that I couldnt smoke the wheels.  The Monroes even cleared them.  The car looked like a wedge but worked  well.   :y :y

Are they estate only?

Yes estate only as the back shocks are different on a saloon...you turn a wheel (located in the boot) to adjust the height to whatever you want, usually to increase height ride to accomodate for example towing a caravan :y

How do you increase the height? Surely you have to pump more air into them, unless they come with their own compressor :-/
