Evening all
I have joined your excellent forum and have not actually bought an Omega.....yet. After many happy years with a Carlton estate there seems only one logical replacment, yes an Omega estate. I have tried to read up just about everything I can get my hands on and have more or less decided its got to be a late silver facelift 2.2 estate with as high a spec as I can find. There is one on Ebay that almost fits the bill exactly but has a few too many miles on it ...this car will have to last me many years. The thing I would like advice on is the question of leather or cloth upholstery. I like the look of the leather but have read a review somewhere that questioned the quality of the leather seats......so I would welcome any comments as to how the leather ones hold up, Iknow the velour ones in my Carlton still look magic after 14 years (and three kids!!!)
Many thanks
Rich

The sports leather in my 98 MV6 with 135k still look very good, and the heaters still work (seems to be a problem with earlier leather in omegas.
The V6s go on forever if maintained, not sure about the 2.2s
And Welcome :D

Hello & welcome :)
As said; if you can; go for a V6 & as far as leather goes........

Choice of car is very much a personal thing.
Diesel for economy.
3 ltre for power.
Elite for the electric toys
and so on.
Same applies to the leather. Its a good choice if its looked after but, even with electric heat pads front and rear, its bl**dy cold to sit on in the winter, until it heats up!!
Good luck on the search.
Oh! and welcome :y

Hello Rich welcome to the forum, Have to agree with everyone else whos said it go for the V6(however i'm biast ::))if it's economy that cocerns you there not a lot of differance between the 2.2 and the 2.5 regarding m.p.g.As for spec. if you can hold out for an elite (biast again ;))do so cos it comes with all the whistles and bells
